HTC warrenty void does insurance cover it

Hi guys i took out a new contract with tmobile through mobile phones direct in feb mainly as it came with the HTC touch HD. ive recently upgraded the firmware on it (voids warrenty). a week ago it stopped working so i sent it back to htc, they said it would cost me 151 quid to fix it as the warrenty was void due to the illegal firmware. when i took out the contract it came with insurance for 5.99 a month. will the insurance comapny cover the cost for repair even if the warrenty is void? is it possible to cancel my contract if the phone is not fixed?

doubt it, you could just say it was working fine again,

if your tele gets stolen from your house, it doesnt matter if you have fixed it your self or if its 30 years old, so i imagine the same would apply with phone insurance.

    1. does it void it because the contract says it does? if so, that might be an unfair clause.

    2. what was "illegal" about the firmware...do you mean "unapproved" by the manufacturer for whatever reason?

    3. why are t-mobile not dealing with the phone?

    4. are you a troll?

The point is was it a HTC rom or a cooked one ?. If it is another official rom for another network HTC repairer's dont have a leg to stand on.....If it was a
"cooked" ( independent rom ) the you are !!!!!!ed as the firmware was not official.

Had this with my SE K660i, I was out of contract early...the handset was unlocked officially by 3 and I put OFFICIAL generic SE software on it, even unlocked and proof contract ended SE refused to put generic firmware as per SE agreement with 3UK for 24 months warranty, so I did it myself - OFFICIAL generic firmware designed by SE for the SE K660.

Later a handset BUTTON went faulty & the repair centre refused repair and wanted £30 for the refusal, WHY ? they & SE said I invalidated the warranty, I argued otherwise as it was official SE firmware loaded by using official SE programs downloaded from the internet - that was a matter of SE security procedures that I could source such OFFICIAL programs to do so....I told them for a £70 handset I did not mind going to court on the technicality of THE excuse SE were using, I reiterated from a legal point what is OFFICIAL firmware got to do refusal let alone with faulty buttons ? - SE relented & apologised, ironically then remarked they hoped my experience had not put me off SE products. I got my repair FREE as under the 24 month warranty as I should have in the first place, I had officially left 3 within my 24 month warranty & thus that did not invalidate my warranty.

Initially SE wanted me to send it via 3 to get repaired whom they stated would 1,2 or 3:-

1: refuse repair as non 3UK software installed ( I'm no longer under contract to 3 ? )

2: refuse repair as I was no longer a 3UK customer (I would have to pay SE approved repairer or SE itself)

3: repair & re-install 3UK firmware (no thanks im not in contract to 3UK anymore)

SE as many other manufacturers don't have the right to refuse GENERIC firmware installation within the warranty period where you the consumer can prove you are no longer a customer of said network, your warranty period remains unaffected from purchase/received date of handset from network/retailer. Customer having left the network SE has no liability towards the network on doing such actions as per SE & the networks T&C of sale or warranty. SE just cant be bothered with the additional cost from authorised repairers or workload direct to SE, under law that is warranty repair regardless of how SE look at it.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

dont know if it applies to the HD but i used to have the touch, of course running on a cooked rom, when i had to send mine back i just forced the phone into bootloader (cant remember the buttons to press) and flashed back the original firmware and then flashed the spl back to the original.
