Yes it seemed to. The engineer is coming on Saturday so hopefully they will get to the bottom of it.

Hope they sort it out for you okay. In all honesty, our induction hob is one of the best things we've ever bought. With any luck, once it's working properly, you'll think so too! :)

Have been looking into the induction hobs after being shown one when we went to price up a new kitchen.
Only ever had gas cookers but was impressed with the way induction works.

So decided to look into how they work. Have gone for the Bosh hob and Boch electric double oven.

The hobs i looked at are the Bosh PIA611T66B and the PIA611T66E

The difference between the two is the first one has a maximum out put of 2.99KW which means it can be plugged into an ordinary 3 pin plug supply, it comes with the plug supplied.

IT also detects when you have more than 2 pan on the hob and splits the load between the pans.

The second hob has a max power of 4.6KW - 20A which would have to be hard wired if used at this setting, but it has managment options to change the output between 10A 13A 16A.
The induction hobs warm up quicker than gas or ordinary electic also .

Just woundered if any one had got one of these hobs and how have they found it working ( will probably go for the 2.99 KW one ) is there enough power when cooking.
  • I've had my AEG induction hob for nearly a year and I have never looked back, brilliant. And both my husband and I are cooks and we both could not go back back to gas or electric hob. Just one piece of advice if you are buying one and getting new pans....you need pans that have a glass lid or glass part of lid. You need to see what you are controlling...it is so fast but you see it coming up you can turn it down without removing the lid every time to check ...is it boiling. So easy to clean, easy to use in every way.

I you have a cooker supply near the hob ( big red switch ) then always go for the hight rated appliance, the 3Kw is for locations where a supply can not be easily installed.

Will be fitting this above a normal oven, think the clearance is there but wondering if the underside gets very hot?

Also anyone got any recommendations as to where to buy pans from ( links would be very useful ), want to spend around £50-£65 for 4 + frying pan if poss. Must also be dishwasher safe to keep her indoors hands pretty ;)

I quite fancy this http://www.appliancesonline.co.uk/product/CIC631TX-Hotpoint-Induction-Hob-Black-26635.aspx , although only 3 ring ( cant remember last time used 4 :o ) would take some fairly big pans....Thoughts?

    Thanks.

If you are at all into poached eggs, poachers for induction hobs are ridiculously expensive! After 2 years of no poached eggs  we bought individual silicone poachers that you stick in an induction friendly saucepan. Brill! Yum! We got ours off the evil bookshop, but available elsewhere too.

As to pans etc, keep an eye on Lidl and Aldi for stainless steel ones, come up occasionally (most of their pans are aluminium so useless for induction)... Take a fridge magnet with you to check them.

Can't remember where we got our pans from for the induction hob, it might have been TJ Hughes when they were having their sale when went into administration. They are back now, here's a link to their kitchen pans. Live in Liverpool, so we tend to just drop in there if we want kitchen stuff.

IKEA have some induction friendly cookware, but last time we went it was quite hard to tell which it was. Wish they'd make it a bit more obvious.

Hope you enjoy your hob! :)

I normally just use a pan of water with a dash of vinegar. No expense at all.

I got my pans from Tesco, reasonable price and good strong pans.
  • After working well for about 4 years our Hotpoint hob regularlly switches itself off going completely dead for 30 seconds or so. Then power returns firrstly with flashes at the control area and then it can be restarted. Any ideas what is wrong with it please?

  • Im looking at a beko induction hob, only problem is the biggest 'zone' is 21.5 cm, pretty small for a 28cm frying pan.

Does the 'zone' still work if the pans bigger but heat only the area its covering?

    Cheers
