Nope! My plan is to get her on her way and then let her sort herself out! So if I get her running a full 5k without stopping, I'll step back and offer my advice/opinion if asked!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

A slow and steady run for me again this morning; my legs were still tired but I've got a rest day tomorrow. I just need to convince my OH that he doesn't really want us to go out cycling miles across country again
How lucky are you Becky? Have you always been someone who wins prizes?
Good luck with your OH beertins; I tried to get mine out running a few times but gave up in the end. I think I'm glad now though because I like the 'me' time and I can go at my own pace.

Nice running Simply - nope I dont normally win anything!
Okay need to have a bit of a grumble...
http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/news/article.asp?UAN=4298
While some of this article I would seriously agree with...I wonder if this can be really true:
It's called the waist-hip ratio, and as a measure of obesity it's far more useful to you as runner. All you have to do is divide your waist in centimetres by your hips in centimetres - Australian researchers claim it is a more accurate indicator of obesity and, more importantly, your health, than the BMI.
they found that men whose waist-hip ratio was 1.0 or more were more likely to suffer from the cardiovascular problems associated with obesity
Can this really be true?
My ratio is 0.8!!! Now if i had bigger hips it would be less but surely that cant be right?? (I have a 24inch waist and 30 inch hips - this is litterally the smallest part of me by a loooong way!) I wonder if its because the study was on men rather than both sexes...0 -

Hello! I saw this as well and thought it was interesting. I knew that BMI wasn't accurate for athletes, its more of a generalised measurement for 'normal' people. As far as the waist-hip ratio goes, yes it still follows for you. It depends on whether you are an apple-shaped body or a pear-shaped body. Apple shaped bodies tend to carry more internal fat around their organs, even though their BMI can appear to be perfectly healthy.
So what is wrong with a W:H ratio of 0.8? That is in the healthy range. If you have a W-H ratio of 1+, this would mean your waist would have to be 30"+ (think beer-belly!) I can't imagine you ever having that kind of waist measurement. My W:H is similar to yours (even though the actual numbers are larger

I'm neither Chick - I'm a boy shape with a bum (does that make sense??)
I also have very broad shoulders for a girl - heaven help me with the new trend for shoulder pads
Yes I agree that 0.8 is healthy but I find it odd mine is that high if you see what I mean...0 -

He, he, I would agree with this. Me and my OH very seldom run together and it isn't usually satisfactory for either of us if we do. I complain that he drags me round too fast, or he complains that we are running too slowly and his muscles are getting cold and tightening up. A definite recipe for disaster.
We share a common interest in running, but we don't do it together!
Beer tins - I agree. Help your wife get up to 5K then back off!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

I see what you mean, but I really don't think it is anything to worry about. More a result of your small hips than anything to do with your actual waist size and risk of obesity. These things are all generalisations after all, and apply to 'the majority' of people. There will always be those with measurements that are not the norm.
What are everyone's weekend running plans? I'm meeting up with a few friends for a long run tomorrow. We'll probably do about 12 miles this time. I didn't run yesterday after giving blood but I should be ok to run tomorrow. I thought about going out for a run, but last time I gave blood and went running I got about half a mile and felt really woozy, so I thought I'd give it a miss this time.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90
