I tend to stick to quite wide leg ones. The best pair I have found recently are a pair of Black Wide fit jeans from Next. They're nicely fitted and very flattering across the bum, being in black slims you down too, and because they're wide leg at the bottom and not too fitted across the thighs they balance you out a little if you have wide hips. They also come in at least 3 lengths too (Petite, Regular and Long... some even come in Tall or Extra Long too!) I think they were only £22 and are brilliant. Might have to find another pair before the season is up!

The best thing I have found with Next's jeans too is that the dye doesn't run or leak. I've had some New look ones too, wide flare (sorry not sure what exact name they were) whilst they were a good fit, and I loved the dark indigo colour... they lose their shape after a couple of days (but come back if you tumble dry them) and it took about 6 or 7 washes before they stopped losing their dye. Of course now they're not the dark blue that they were when I first bought them but at least they've stopped turning my legs (and hands) blue!!!

Don't you find it's getting harder to find nice boot cut jeans and it's all skinny jeans these days?

Yes! *is vase shape and therefore has big hips and thighs which do not work in skinny jeans at all* Admittedly you can cheat by buying straight leg jeans but I think they make my legs look too long for my body - I've got quite long legs proportionally anyway despite only being 5'2" so making them look even longer is not good!

The best pair of jeans I ever owned were New Look Pogo jeans back when they were proper boy fit jeans - cheap (for good jeans) at just under £20, really soft fabric, really comfy but not too casual either. Sadly though they eventually fell to bits and by that point New Look stopped doing them as they have a bit of a habit of sticking to the trendy shapes and it was when the skater look was out and skinny jeans started to come back in...

The other jeans I had and loved were Gap's Western Bootcut jeans (again, this is about four years ago). Great shape - loose but not too loose, think a less clingy straight leg - washed well, a bit stiff at first but excellent once broken in. They were another pair that eventually fell apart from being worn to death.

My last pair of jeans were Gap Long and Lean because I love the shape of them - again, I have a bit of a thing about quite loose jeans that don't cling to my legs. I do have a pair of black Dotty P's bootcut jeans for going out in though which are pretty good for that purpose seeing as I don't wear them an awful lot. However I may now have to investigate the Hula ones...

My tip would be the levi's outlet shops or buying levi's in the USA! I'd never pay full UK price for levis, but have no trouble getting a pair for less than £50. I have had a pair (when the exchange rate was good for £12), but my last few pairs have been in the £20 - £30 range.

It can be hard work finding the best fit but they have so many cuts and size combinations if you give yourself plenty of time you will normally come away with something you like.

Only trouble I've been having is that recently the skinny cuts or the very exaggerated boot cuts all seem to be too small on my rather muscley thighs.......

However mens levis work quite well, 512s or 501s, and it is easier to get the longer leg lengths too (I'm 5'8"). If you are struggling do try mens jeans as an alternative they can look great.

I like Gap jeans too, although the long and lean are starting to look a bit too flared for current fashion and full price they are expensive so I would wait for the sale.

Dotty P are good if you are curvey with a small waist, my sister always has that gape in the small of her back but finds DP jeans fit well.

Tesco jeans, I'm glad someone else has noticed that big about the crotch thing!!! I bought a pair the other year in desparation and they have bugged me ever since, glad I didn't spend much on them!

General tips for buying jeans, if you are at all between sizes, go smaller, jeans normally grow slightly when you wear them in, and they look better a bit tight than a bit loose. Make sure they are long enough, they get shorter after you have been sitting down a while. Beware of embellishments and detailling, it can be unflattering, and dating if you don't get it right. Heavier denim holds you in better and is often more flattering than light weight super stretch denim.

I'm sure you are right - in fact I think i heard Gok say the same thing. But.... I am size 12 in trousers and skirts and decided to try on a size 14 jeans because I was fed up with the old muffin top with my little summer tshirts. They are much more flattering. I have to wear a belt (love buying belts though) and they look great with my little tops. Also managed to get my hands on some fantastic very high waisted flared jeans which suck in my tummy and thighs/bottom and give me a nice shape. Need to wear longer top over them though.

    Superfine jeans...

    Best in the business.

Jeans are one of those things you SHOULD spend money on. If you're a big 'jeans wearer' then its no good complaining if your primark jeans go tatty round the edges. Spend the extra. Its worth it in the long run.

You're BOTH right, but it depends on the denim. If its heavy, good quality denim, then you should go UP a size, because it wont have that much 'give' in it. However, its its cheap, 'throwaway' denim, then yes, go down a size, because it'll stretch. Easily.

I cant shop there at all. I cant stand it when I go out on a saturday night and see hundreds of 'clone girls' all looking the same, cause they've all bought their entire outfits in Primark.

Ah, that must be my problem then... Ive NEVER collapsed in a gutter... EVER.

Ihad a fight in a pub once though (I say fight, someone tried to go for me, and I HAD to 'hit or be hit'), but even then I was wearing Westwood....

If you buy the primark t-shirts with lycra they hold their shape very nicely for £2 and last well too very MSE.

But then I don't think you really wanted a discussion about the money saving did you, you just wanted to hijack the thread because you are still feeling put out about the fashion threads pushing your boring vitamin threads off the front page!!!

Hi all...sorry to say it but the best jeans i've ever bought were from....Evans:eek: at £20 or 2 for £30 (i think)...so it only works if a)You can bear to walk in ther and b) If you're a certain size. Also matalan do some straight leg ones for £10 and last ages and ages. And i find both quite slimming for the larger lady.
