:mad:Just had a letter poked through the letterbox this morning. It was postmarked 02 06 09. The postage cost printed on it is £4.80. I know this letter would have been sent SD as I was expecting it but did not know when it was going to be posted, SD was used because it was important documents being returned to me.
The SD sticker has been completely torn off and the "sig reqd" sticker has been crossed through in pen.
8 days for an SD letter must be some sort of record but worse is that someone in the system has tried to hide their foul up.

I have experienced this sort of thing when posting to people. The recipients say that no signature was required on delivery and that there was no sticker on the envelope. Although I pay for the signature, I do not see one when examining the tracking details for the package and the tracking information just says that the item is still at the Post Office although, OBV, it has been delivered.
The reason is that the glue on those SIGNED FOR stickers is really useless and they fall off in the post -probably ripped off in the sorting machines. This mostly happens if you are using one of those waxed paper padded envelopes as these are somewhat resistant to adhesive. I have taken to sellotaping the dratted things on when posting.
Consequently I have actually lost a few of these in the post as, if they are not labelled as SIGNED FOR, they tend to go astray. I cannot think why this should be the case.... Perhaps the postmen have stickier fingers than the glue provided on the labels?

The envelope has been damaged by removing the SD sticker. The bar coding machine prints either side of the sticker, that along with a small part of the sticker is still there. :mad:0

Sometimes I've had SD or RD items through the door without requiring a signature which Ps me off when it comes to things like £175 festival tickets or cash!!0

complain!! and im being serious
this sort of thing shouldnt happen0 -
But I did not send it and there is no proof as the SD label has been removed
but I would be interested to see who signed for it  0 -
theres still proof of the value of posting
you know the item was SD by the value,if you can see part of the lable then this adds to it
if the delivery postie recieved it like this then theres nothing they can do
so if you complain to their manager then its no effect on them.
personally if i got an item like that i would have placed it in a damaged bag and made a manager aware before going on delivery0 -
Can I ask the size and weight of the letter, as SD starts from £4-95, unless it has been sent from a company who have used their own franking machine, in which case it would be £4-80.
If this is the case, it is not unknown for them to put the stickers on, but then just put it in the post box. If this happens, it will end up going with the normal mail, as all SD needs to be processed by the counter staff in order to enter the SD system.
If it has been processed correctly, then the sender will have a receipt with tracking numbers on. If they cannot produce this, it could be that someone tried to save a bit of time by not taking it into the post office, and thought that just putting the stickers on would be enough!!
Hope this helps!0 -
