Granite/stone worktopsoh god... i didnt know what glass balastrauding was so i looked it up.. i have an 18 month old and if i went to look at a house with that i would be instantly put off as it would just be a mass of sticky fingermarks in about 5 minutes... aaaaagh... it not for a family home... if you are in an obviously not family orientated place (trendy flat) then maybe it would look nice, but i think it might look dated in about 5 mins too... i would say spend on the kitchen but i dont like granite worktops, i'd love solid wood ones... easier to clean as well... i suppose its all just personal taste, whatever you do, if you find a buyer who loves it you are laughing, if you potential buyer hates it then all they will see is the expense of putting it 'right'....
I think the glass might put some off, the worktops won't put any off & the majority will love them;)0 -

We'll have to agree to disagree on cheap and common as I don't see how solid oak is cheap and common either in the 'lots of them and inexpensive' way or the 'chavvy' way either.
The staircase is going to be in that style; with cleaner lines - either with square oak spindles or straight glass panels.
I think the square oak spindals would look great, I love oak.
Are you getting glass splashbacks????????????
They are the business, I "discovered" them AFTER my latest kitchen was fitted:mad:
They are going in my next one.
Google them, they are much nicer than tiles.0 -

We've just discovered the wonders of a glazier! We're having glass splashbacks, (I'm going on Monday to choose the colour; personal taste says hot pink but it will be more subdued than that!) the glass on the stairs and a frosted glass screen we think for the wet room.
The granite/composite worktops are also going in so we don't have to choose anymore as the price is working out at much less than I thought it was going to!
I can't wait to get it all in there now; plasterer finishes tomorrow.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

DH wan'ted shower only wet room, I insisted on a normal but modern bathroom, boy am I sorry.
Instead of a bath we never use & a pumped shower over it we use constantly we could have had a huge walk in shower:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:0 -

Seriously, try it next time you're out with the OH. Everyone has this misconception that everyone in this country is moody and defensive nowadays.
Yet EVERYBODY waves back. It's hilarious.
Haha, I thought it was only me and my husband who do this. We love it when they get all excited and wave back and you see them mouthing 'HIYA!' and then they get all confused and frown all in the space of a few seconds. :rotfl:0 -

It takes sooo many houses to finally start picking the right stuff!
We were offered a really good deal on the base which we couldn't really refuse as the joists were all exposed, it was no more work to put it all in. There's just a load of membrane and a random plug hole in the middle of the floor right now!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
