Omega by Bushboard, its called Riven Noir 005. Is glossy but also has a texture so not a flat gloss expanse.

I'd go either for the worktops, or something else.

    Sorry :p
I do vaguely remember it. :rotfl:

Seriously, try it next time you're out with the OH. Everyone has this misconception that everyone in this country is moody and defensive nowadays.

Yet EVERYBODY waves back. It's hilarious. :)
    That's funny :o

Their faces are hilarious when they realise they have no idea who you are :D

I waved to someone in the supermarket carpark recently that I did know and although they waved back they obviously didn't have a clue who I was :o

I have Omega by Bushboard worktops too. Only mine is the Puno Surf (not glossy as I was scared they'd dull after a while), and can't afford anything fancier. :D

I would have 'something else' because I agree with whoever said about it looking like an office block, and I don't like stone worktops. If I had had the money on our current (but nearly finished!) renovation, I might have gone for a decent wooden top.
A 'wow' garden does it for me :)

oh god... i didnt know what glass balastrauding was so i looked it up.. i have an 18 month old and if i went to look at a house with that i would be instantly put off as it would just be a mass of sticky fingermarks in about 5 minutes... aaaaagh... it not for a family home... if you are in an obviously not family orientated place (trendy flat) then maybe it would look nice, but i think it might look dated in about 5 mins too... i would say spend on the kitchen but i dont like granite worktops, i'd love solid wood ones... easier to clean as well... i suppose its all just personal taste, whatever you do, if you find a buyer who loves it you are laughing, if you potential buyer hates it then all they will see is the expense of putting it 'right'....

I've never seen granite worktops and don't know what glass balustrading is ... so I didn't vote.

Wouldn't a texture trap all sorts of nasties ... not to mention bread dough/pastry when you're rolling it out... sounds like a recipe for a lot of fiddly cleaning.

I am soooooooooo old (:D ;) ) that I tend to analyse everything too much and then compare all the pros and cons before I make a decision. I also prefer an easy life when it comes to keeping things pristine.

Before I could vote I would want to see pictures of your place, how old is the house, does it have any character, are you keeping in character or going contemporary, etc. Also, are you a couple or a family, if a family how old are the children? If a couple, do you intend to have a family? Will there be money in the coffers at a later date if you want to spend all now on the worktop and save up for the glass balustrade? See how analytical and organised I am  ?

In my opinion wood worktops can look lovely, you see them on some of the home shows on TV. If they're in the right setting they look good. I don't seem them as a cheap option but I do see them as harder work than I would want (probably makes me a lazy moo!). We couldn't afford granite, but not sure I wanted it, so had a nice laminate - not gloss, too much work - but I really wish I'd seen that one Edinburghlass has posted a picture of (couldn't you have done that a few months ago EL :p ).

There, now I'm sure that has helped enormously :rotfl: .

I voted for something else, but rereading your post it says "were finishing a house", not our house so if its to sell then it would have to justify its return surely. Does it have to be around that budget (not that i know what either would cost.)?

The glass balustrading is a definite no, worktops would be good. If money was no object, a sunken bath or wet room, an orangery or one of them wooden log cabins in the garden.

Also how about something near the front door like a porch or canopy so it looks much more appealing from the approach.

Would love to see some pics. as i remember seeing some of yours before as the style and quality of the work was superb.
