And a sill ledge is £40 (he said he'd use part of the slab and polish etc and splash back in the same material £300, both inc of VAT

SSV it sounds a lot like you have come to my yard for a quote. I didn't want to mention the company I work for. But your description of the showroom sounds a lot like our place. Maybe you could PM me tell me where you have been? I deal with a lot of customers maybe we have even met? You never know.

We are based near Salisbury? Anyways I've got my girl Alice in the office doing a quote for you and I'll have the price tomorrow. If nothing else it will be a good comparison.

Nice!! Zirconium is a beautiful material. All that mirror, honestly once it is fitted in looks spectacular. Funny stuff to cut and polish because of the mirror content but really nice stuff. Good choice.

Have you seen some of the other new Silestone mirrors? They are new materials for 2014 and they are incredible.

I'm told it's not mirror in the zirconium, but chunks of chrome? That's why it's more expensive - it destroys the equipment!!!

Really? I never knew that. However I can see it now, it makes sense. That would explain the destruction of my saw blades after cutting and the funny noises and smell it makes. Do you know what in all the kitchens I have cut in Zirconium I've always noticed it cuts funny but I have never been told my anyone that it is chrome. You learn something everyday. Thank you NANU👍👌

It's why it's not replicated by anyone else. It means they always look silvery, unlike mirror which will look clear from certain angles. ;)

I always knew it was called the "Platinum Colection" and I was aware the characteristics were different because I know they spent a long time developing it. I find with that range as well that the touch and feel of it is closer to natural stone. This is something I think always let's the synthetic stone down. It doesn't have that same feel as something natural. I hope it looks great for you. Your very lucky.

Reading this thread with interest, am ...looking at Mayfair & am down south as well. I'm also looking at the white quartz starlight. Out of interest what brand was the white starlight?,I was told it was Compact, but I can't find it in their range for the life of me!!.

Any thoughts on Korean quartz anyone?

    Thanks in advance :)

I believe starlight White is made by Technistone. They are a company based in the Czech Republic and offer a good alternative.

As for Korean quartz I have had experience with HanStone and LunaStone both of a good quality actually. I would recommend both.
If your budget stretches Samsung Radianz is in my opinion the best available. You can see and feel the quality.

Nope, it's not there but glad it sounds similar and you guys do a similar thing!

I think we'll end up going with White Storm, I think the Blanco Zeus is just 'too' white and will show up literally every mark!

Stone shops aren't always the most glamorous of places. Plus you may find like us that all there kitchen company showrooms have there stone in them. That way keeps the companies sweet and promotes work to more footfall too.

Small showrooms aren't a bad sign and shouldn't put you off. We have huge under cover areas for viewing material which I think is more important. Our customers come to view slabs not seams so it works.
We do have some nice bespoke hand made kitchens but only a few and a huge Grigio leathered island looks awesome. It's important to have one granite, one marble and one quartz. I don't know how small there's is but like I say it is more important you view the material. However in your case with quartz, I wouldn't even bother. It is exactly the same from corner to corner, slab to slab.

    Hello Stonemason1985
Can I tap on your expertise and find out how would you rate the star galaxy and any tips you would want to share with us while selecting/choosing the star galaxy stone/slab?
    Cheers
