The JCP is open to everybody. Some may not share your standards of English (although they may know how to use sentences and capitalisation).
I'm not sure what you expected - a cup of coffee and a big hug?Gone ... or have I?0 -

My local once certainly is. I have recently become unemployed and now have to go every 2 weeks to sign on.
There is always a gathering of chavs (for want of a better word) outside the front door, with cans of super-strength lager in their hands and some with big dogs. I for one find this very intimidating and whilst the security guards employed by the JCP keep them from entering the building, they don't seem to make any effort to shift them from outside the front door.
Inside isn't so bad, mainly just people like me looking for a job or signing on.
The first time I went,m I was scared I was going to be mugged and have never gripped my handbag so tight! I don't bother taking it now, just in case

Job centres are not there to offer help and advice. They just want to make sure that you satisfy the criteria for claiming JSA every fortnight by making sure that you are applying for jobs that do not exist !0

While I'm not a fan of the JCP (I find them as useless as you lot do), it's worth asking about seeing a careers advisor.
The one I saw (after a month wait) was very friendly, optimistic about employment, and gave me some good tips on improving my cv.
She also answered a lot of off-the-record questions that I wouldn't have wanted to have asked JCP, and I felt a lot more relaxed as she's not employed by the Jobcentre but part of Connexions instead. This may not be available at all Jobcentres but it was certainly the only positive experience I've had at mine.0 -
my job centre is terrible, just wants you to turn up and they sign you on, no Q's asked0

I know exactly what you mean about these "chavs" gathering outside jobcentre offices. They are a damned nuisance and, at times, can convey a very unsettling feeling.
They should introduce new laws to prohibit these undesirables from congregating outside jobcentre offices. It is depressing enough having to sign on without having to slip past these unsavoury individuals! The JCP is open to everybody. Some may not share your standards of English (although they may know how to use sentences and capitalisation).

I went to the lady signing me on Monday and she seemed bored and annoyed when I had a wedge of job adverts for her to get more info on for me.0
