Another online dater here.....and in true MSE style I used plentyoffish.com which is free to join.

Yes, there are quite a few weirdos out there, but there are also good honest folk in the same situation as yourself, you just have to do a bit of weeding to find the good ones!

Hi borrow a baby and go to the local park. Lots of singles go with their children and seeing a man with a baby usually puts them at ease . Make sure you get a cute one though, lol.

Thank you people, I love hearing all the stories of how people met thier other halves, even if it does make me a bit jealous!;)
I'll have a look at those free websites, might as well, nothing to lose & all that! I was thinking about having a singles party where each single friend brings along another single friend, but they would probably all end up being girls, I seem to know lots of single girls but no single men, I thought I'd met a nice chap at the weekend in a nightclub, but it turns out he was chatting me up as a bet from his mate, now nice!
It's great to see other not-so-lucky-in-love people here and those of you who met your other half through MSE, HOW?!!

I met my DH in a ballroom dance class, how cheesy is that :D We were both in other relationships at the time and were just good friends for a few years (all part of the same group of friends). He split up with his GF, a bit later I too became single, and we were still great friends. Attended a class together on Friday nights and hey presto, I fell in love with my best friend and he with me. Here we are 14 years later (married for 12), 2 kids and still going strong :)

As someone else suggested, dance classes are great places to meet new people. Personally I prefer Ceroc to salsa, plus in my experience people there tend to be less obviously on the hunt for someone to pick up - lots of singles, most go purely for a good time and to make new friends.
