Just had renewal quote from AA after 17 years being a member having played the yearly renewal game, (paid £84.00 last year)This year they want £150 and will not budge a penny. even though my letter says I am one of their most valued customers. If that how they treat valued customers god help the rest!!! bye bye AA0

I just had the same with AA.
The guy on the phone said "we have to quote you full price at renewal, we cannot quote a discounted renewal price"
Is this really true? Is there some regulation that says they have to quote some sort of standard price at renewal?
With most of these I just go somewhere else, why do they expect loyalty? For some reason this time I took his offer of "same price as last year" which was £77 less than the original quote!
Can anyone shed any light on this claim?

When they say we have to quote the full price its because they hope you just autorenew or payup without asking if they can discount it.
I guess many do so its worth doing.

I have joint cover (me and my partner) have Roadside, Home Start and Relay (get you home after a breakdown they cant fix) the total cost is £133 does this represent a keen rate - What do you pay ??
I am a long time member too I haggle at renewal and get reduced - I think they play on the fact you have been a member for XX years and wont cancel next time I probably will because the intensives to new members are great - There is no longer any advantage with loyalty0 -
Just to complain that my renewal quote from the AA , family membership, has gone up from the £219 paid last year (after haggling, £189 previously) to a whopping £362.69. I feel they should be in court for preying on the stupid, vulnerable and elderly. (I'm all 3 )
After refusing to pay any more than last years premium plus 1% for inflation and threatening to cancel immediately i was offered £235.75.

Just haggled mine back down to 97p less than I paid last year, on a 2 year deal so next renewal is the same price too, called 24 months for 18 months deal or something........ supposed to be 25% off, which strangely was all you need to bring the 33% increase back to where it was.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I love the way that my renewal didn't actually give the price on the renewal letter front page, with loads of colour and a huge gold card stuck on there.
Must've been an oversight.....
I turned to the next page to see if they deigned to mention it, and sure enough it was there - just not in the same shouty print as any of the rest of the letter.
Cancelled last night after 12 years membership, and despite the £20 reduction on offer - I don't have the patience to play their games :-(0
