I miss OE too, but why Microsoft couldn't incorporate a mail programme into Windows 7 I don't know, possibly they're hoping people will download the other crap on offer when you download it from the web.
So far my opinion of Windows 7 RC is it's a prettied-up version of Vista.

They are probably just trying to avoid more fines from the EU

This is probably the reason - it's getting harder and harder to 'bundle' items with an operating system these days without it being seen as a monopoly.

Thanks so much for this. My head has been spinning all morning since I installed Windows 7, first it didn't like my Kaspersky vers 7 antivirus then Skype 3.8, so I was having a really blonde moment when I couldn't find my mail programme.

Given that they still include IE (which was the cause of a court case), I don't think that has anything to do with it whatsoever.

Doing it this way will encourage people to sign up for their crappy email, and it enables the OS to install faster.

If they didn't include a browser, how the funk would anyone download a competitor browser?

All the people I talk to about new PC's who aren't so... knowledgeable, they always complain that Windows DOESN'T come with bundled software - for once i actually feel sorry for Microsoft...

IE is a bit of sticking point for that reason, and its quite tightly intergrated with explorer anyway.

They removed media player for xp/vista and movie maker isn't shipping with win7.

Well, both Mozilla and Opera offered to let Microsoft distribute their browsers via Windows Update.

Microsoft declined on the basis that it would be "confusing".
