    Went to Argassi in 1987.

Beautiful little place then,no louts. There was no bus to Lagonas then, just Zante town.Probably gone downhill now, like Puerto rico,Gran Caneria.
Would probably make me sad to see it now.

I don't think there is a direct bus from Tsilivi to Laganas even now.
You have to go into Town then out again.

I can't remember the exact name of this restaurant but it was something like My View or The View, the owner t seems has a restaurant in Henley upon Thames as well. I was here 5 years ago and its on a hill with an amazing view. Hired a car for a day and did some exploring. Oh and don't leave it until dark to drive back as its a sod without a map and somewhere that you haven't been lol

    Boat1.jpg

and the trip to the location was nice as well but only if the weather is good and it does get crowded.

My girlfriend and I visited Tsilivi last year, its absolutely stunning and we would go back anytime.

Buses are very infrequent and although cheap they do not really stick to any kind of timetable, there may be a timetable up at the stop but the bus could appear 15 mins either side of that. In general I think it is an hourly service.

As said previously if you do a boat trip make sure you book up with Spiros at Levante Tours. You will find him in Tsilivi Harbour. Expect to pay 40 Euro per person for a hald day trip. It sounds expensive but his boat travels at around 25 knots as opposed to the larger boats 6 so you see much more of the island and its more fun!!

As far eateries I would highly recommend Menirs, Koukos and Giorgios. Zeus also gets good reviews but we had a terrible experience there where a waiter spilt our bottle of red wine down me. When the bill arrived they had the cheek to try and charge us for it (despite the majority of it being on there floor.) Even when challenged they didn't want to knock the price of the wine off the bill. The problem being its easy to be nice till they get you in but as they don't rely on return custom then when the sh!% hits the fan they don't really feel obliged to do anything.

Hope you have a great time!!!

Here's the bus timetable (scroll down for local buses), we found they ran pretty much on time from Town:

    Another vote for Menhir. :T

We also ate at Zeus, the food was OK but we had better in other places. One thing that really put us off was that the waiters seemed to be manic, running round clapping their hands and yelling 'Yamos', 'Lovely Jubbly' or 'Happy Days' - I think families really liked it but it wasn't really our 'glass of ouzo', so to speak.

Yes been to Zante.. Loved the shipwreck cove, and getting there on the boat,

Laganas very very sad :( such a lovely beach but im afraid the turtles are dying everywhere ruined by humans :( even tho they have patrols there people took no notice not to disturb turtles :(

In Zante town we use to walk to dinner and again us humans :( those poor dogs/puppies so so thin soooo sad to see how close to death they are and how clever even the little pups make it across the busy roads I wept for weeks once I returned home,

even our plush beach apartment the lady opposite us use to tie her 2 dogs to the fence all day :( they were left outside 24/7 she would return from work around 5ish trot to the beach and was back within 10minutes, 2 weeks I watched those poor dogs but at least they got a meal every night unlike all the strays in town...

apart from that some lovely sites to see, but if your animal lover you will be upset....

Yes you can get ferry to kef from zante town cheaper to do it yourself, sorry forgot how much it was also ferry to athens was amazingly cheap bus took you from bus station...
I would love to be a Travel Agent :j

I thought I would post a little message to let you know what I thought of Zante, since you were kind enough to answer my Q. regarding my trip to the Island:D

Zante was fabulous:) we had a lovely holiday. Much better than I expected TBH. The weather was gorgeous. Clear blue skys every day and well above 30c. Our accomodation was very good too. We stayed at the planos bay apts (not to be comfused with the inferior planos beach apts;)). The pool was massive and It was really clean. The maids were brilliant. Infact, all the staff at the planos were great, including the entertainment team:D

I've been to Greece lots of times (first time to Zante though) and I have to say the locals in Zante are the nicest Greeks I've ever met. They are so friendly and smiley. The best restuarant we went to was Menir near planos beach. It was inexspensive the food was lovely and the waiters and waitresses were really nice. I wasn't too keen on georgios, although lots of people I met staying at our apts went there every night:confused:another good restaurant - although a bit more pricey is the village tavern next door to where we stayed (planos bay).

We really liked Zante town, but only went there once.

I am so glad we did not go to Lagana as I heard lots of people on our flight home (the over 20s anyway) complaining about the noise at night and drunks running riot. Yuk! Tsilivi was the complete opposite. I didn't see any trouble at all...thankfully:) I will definetly go back there again. Lovely place:D:D:D
