Don't start reinstalling things, downloading ccleaner or god knows what else, some people here are of the opinion that whatever fixes one problem is going to fix everything..... it's just not the case.
Also DO NOT believe Virgin when they start telling you it's your PC, or a problem at your end! so many PC's get fubar'd by people trying to fix something that isnt broken!
A friend of mine had connection issues (no connection at all) on Virgin and was about to start reinstalling everything, I told her to wait a day or two and see if it was ok before doing anything else. 2 days later it was fixed even though Virgin were claiming it to be her PC.
The trouble with Cable, is you share bandwidth with your whole street, maybe even 2 streets or an entire housing estate. But in some way's this is also a blessing!
I know people don't tend speak to their neighbours any more, but try asking them anyway.... Are they getting similar problems on Virgin?
This should be your first step.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

My brother lives around the corner and he isn't having these probs.I agree that simply downloading a magic cure program will fix everything - it is a non starter
My modem logs show these reguarly- dunno if it is relevant to my problem
