  • What version of BB is it ADSL, ADSL 2+?

Is your modem/ router ADSL 2+ compliant?

The likeliness is 10 meg is too much for your line ring your provider and find out what the SNR is if it’s below 10 db’s get them to drop you line speed meg by meg until it’s above. If your line is unstable due to too much data passing over it then it’s likely to bottle neck, lowering the speed can make it faster.

If your on a wireless router have you got it secured so no-one can connect unless they know the security key etc. A neighbour or someone could be using your internet without you knowing and downloading a load of stuff. Just a thought.

Also remember that Virgin media cut your speed at peak times if you download more than around 300mb. Mine drops from 10mb to around 3mb when downloading a lot.

How do you check to make sure your wireless connection is secure and not used by anyone else? I put in a username and password when I connected initially.
Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

try this one using virgin's servers http://www.tenmeg.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/speedtest2.htm

i had this problem,i was getting to much power to the modem, they had to send a engineer (if thats what they call them)out to fix it,had them out every week until one looked at the power settings on the modem,

in the end i got upset with one CS and they reported me to there manager for saying something and got it fixed in a week ,hence why they looked at the power settings ,not the right thing to do buy the way
there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff

  • Wireless security has a pass key, a username and password would more likely have been used to athenticate you with VM.

You'll need to check in your router settings. What router do you have?

Probably best to report the issues in the Virgin Media support newsgroups.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
