Just popping in briefly to say hi, and hugs to all those who need one, or who would just like one! Especially for toots, lady-liberty, and fedupandskint.
My languages day in London was fantastic - as well as excellent presentations, I have loads of freebies, and won two lovely BBC languages packs in the raffle. I staggered over to Marble Arch (New Look, not Primark this time sexymouse!) to get a dress for DD that she fell in love with in local store, but they didn't have her size. I was lucky too.
I left a list of jobs for everyone at home, so with a bit of luck and a little judicious motivational shouting tomorrow, I should get another star!
Off to bed soon...It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -

Its difficult because there is very little in and they only have 30 mins! You know what I am like with meal planning soappie so this will be a real test! I am going to try and remember some of the things I had in hospital and try to work from there and will try to get a pot of soup done tomorrow with whatever is around.
toots xx
Sounds like a challenge... I'm sure soappie will whip up a menu plan for you in no time, but if she hasn't done it soon, the rest of us will be happy to contribute! If we can make sure you have the food sorted out, then your helpers can do other stuff - like your flying
I have a very simple system for meals, so maybe you could use some of these ideas:
Breakfast - sugar free muesli (try dorset cereals or make your own), with natural organic yogurt and one portion of fruit (e.g. stewed rhubarb, chopped pear, chopped apple, sliced banana), glass of fruit juice, cup of herbal tea
Lunch - you could have a nice soup packed with veggies with a roll and a piece of fruit OR a salad (aa combination of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, avocado, chicory, fennel, grated carrot, peppers, beansprouts, spring onions, radishes etc) with a handful of pasta or couscous or new potoatoes and a couple of hard boiled eggs, or a bit of chicken breast or cottage cheese or smoked fish (or flavoured tofu, but I know it doesn't appeal to everyone!) and some sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Follow with some natural yogurt and stewed or fresh fruit.
Evening meal - at the moment I'm generally having chicken stock infused with chillies, to which I add noodles & spinach or other green veggies. But you could have something more substantial - I make a kind of ratatouille with aubergine, onion, tomato and any other available veggies (this is made in bulk in the SC and frozen in portions) which I then can have with rice and green vegetables or on pasta with goats cheese and a salad. It's also nice with chickpeas, lentils or beans added to it.
For snacks I have stuff like rice cakes, nuts (almonds/brazils), carrot sticks & humous, dried apricots/figs/dates. Apparently hard boiled eggs are good snacks too, and the rules on no more than three eggs a week have changed - you can eat as many as you like! You can also eat vast quantities of natural yogurt without any significant consequences!
The soup, vegetable stew/ratatouille and stewed fruit can be made in bulk and frozen in portions. Muesli can be made in bulk. Everything can be ordered from the supermarket and delivered (obviously this is the opposite of what I do, as I try to avoid the supermarket and shop locally).
Try to eat as much fruit and veg as you can... and drink plenty of water!0 -

Delete that text immediately and don't even THINK about getting back in touch with her. You are far better than her xxI am the leading lady in the movie of my life

froddy your lunch sounds very yummy! glad the fayre went well - will catch up regarding the 'no-longer-a-friend' thingy but it sounds like you are better off without her.
carol well done with the cooking - my thoughts and prayers are with your Gran - and everyone. xx
ladyL awh how cute - I missed their arrival somehow - did we a get a piccie - can you email me one? I would be spending all their waking hours playing with them! Thank you for the word on FFp and yes please tell her I was asking after her.
Holly poor wee man - I hope he is better now that he has been sick. The bunny sounds lovely. You might not have done anything from your list but you were still busy!
SS Hi babes!! I hadnt realised you were working today - WOW your first week in -thats great and even better that you are enjoying it. I am sooooooo pleased for you.
Soappie yes thats all so I am thinking along the lines of getting the lunchtime person to prep for dinner time so that something can be cooking and just needs serving or heating - i will try to get batch cooking done too somehow so that I have portions in the freezer. I think they would really like me to get the Wiltshire Farm Foods meals into my freezer - thats whats used instead of meals on wheels these days but I am not keen.
serena ooh well done with the prizes - they could be handy - and it sounds like you had a really lovely day.
greenbee the carers are not allowed to do the flying - I have to employ a cleaner! they are only allowed to look after me - make sure I am washed dressed and fed basically. Anything else I will have to pay for - £12 an hour. Thanks for the ideas - I will make notes tomorrow.
I am off to bed now too.
Sleep well and hugs for you all.

Delete that text immediately and don't even THINK about getting back in touch with her. You are far better than her xxSeconded!!! I hope it's now gone...
Thanks! I did delete it, but after 2 weeks I was hoping she'd got the message and would give up
rosepink - I'm not sure when she's talking about it, just that others have been commenting so I know she's mentioning itIt's almost like she's bragging ..........
ETA - thanks Toots; will update you via PM if you really want to know!
I'm off to bed to read my book now - night all, sleep well x"There's only one way of life and that's your own" - Levellers

Hi everyone. Back from work and have decluttered sandwich and salad from the staff shop, a nice glass of wine and a chocolate overload chocolate mousse thing. Was eating it while reading Greenbee's healthy meal suggestions.:rotfl:
Well done froddy not getting sucked back in.
Hollyh...your poor DS. Hope he's ok now.
fedupandskint...big hugs...sounds like its still sinking in for you. We're all here if you need us.
Toots...my mum used to buy the Wiltshire Farm Foods for my Grandad. She used to say that they were quite nice. She had a couple if my Grandad decided he didn't want a particular one anymore. Obviously its not as good a HM stuff but it might be handy to have a few in for a quick lunch or tea. Give the batch cooking a miss for now...wait until you're feeling a bit better or get the carers to do it. There's a reason why the carers are coming to prepare your meals....you're supposed to be resting and NOT cooking. Look at that...my bossy streak is coming out!!!:rotfl:
Going for a walk tomorrow with DH, the girls and my mum and dad. DD2 had got a thing about planes so we're going to go where you get a brilliant view of the runway and you see all the planes taking off and landing. She'll love it. Then we're back at my mum and dad's for lunch. I'm taking a bit cake round that I got in the staff shop for 75p...should have been £5.99!
Flyingwise I have done nothing today! The lounge is a tip but at least the bathroom's clean and tidy and the kitchen isn't too bad.
Think I'm waffling now...I'll go...bedtime for me. DH is out so I'm heading off to bed. Night night.0 -
It's a pity you can't get help with the cleaning toots, but at least you've got SOME help! Work out how they can be most useful to you (does doing the washing up/clearing up after the meal count as part of their duties??). You may need to compromise on the meals to begin with, but if you can gradually batch cook and fill the freezer with stuff you like, then they can heat up the main bit of the meal and cook fresh veggies for you or make a salad to your instructions!
ETA - as sunnygirl says, you need to pace yourself. Take it easy, and if you have to have ready meals for a while at least you can make sure you have decent ones! You can supplement them with plenty of fruit and veg, which I'm sure your helpers can deal with.
Right... I'm off to bed now... sleep well everyone!0 -
