I have a dell mini 10 and which doesn't have a disk drive, is there anywhere to transfer word through my desk top - its on disc as well as on desk top hard drive.
Thanks in advance.
I'm asking because when I open my docs from my pen the netbook is changing them into wordpad and they won't display properly even when I click open with ... works word the docs aren't displaying properly.
Thanks in advance.

Install from an external CD drive (can you borrow one?) or copy to flash drive?
You'll need a licence valid for 2 PC's of course. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Do they both use the same version of office or word ?
If not you can save it so it can be opened in an older version.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 0650 -

do yo just want to view them?
if so just google office word viewer and download word viewer
(install it to the pen drive)
if you want to edit also get open office 3.1 word processor and install it to the drive as its very similar to word (alot think better) and can both open and save in word formatsBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
I have microsoft office word 2003 files on my pen drive but when I plug my pen into my netbook with works word on it, it shows the files as wordpad files which they never have been. Whether I then open with words word processor or wordpad the document is all over the place.

Ooh just found a brand new cd with Office 2003 on it from an old laptop but I suppose I still need an external cd drive to put it on netbook.0

yes and a cd key
or you could look at my earlier post as a free alternative
just drop the .exe installer files onto the pen drive and install on laptopBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Do you have a suitable home network (wireless or wired, doesn't matter) that will allow your two PCs to talk to each other?
If so then you can "share" your CD drive out so that other computers, such as your netbook, can read the CD.
Two concerns:
1) Netbooks aren't the most powerful computers in the world, they are designed to be small and efficient. Attempting to run a heavyweight application like Office / Word on there would be like trying to use a Vauxhall Corsa to transport a pallet of bricks
2) If you're planning to install Office on both computers you may be breaking the licensing agreement, some versions allow you to install it on your laptop as well for no extra charge, some do not. If that version of Office came bundled with your old laptop then chances are it does not allow for installing it on a different laptop.0 -
Network share or usb drive are the best options as mentioned
If you have Office 2007 try saving as .doc instead of .docx
or to make them compatible with wordpad try saving as .rtf0
