GREAT PS2 XMAS SHORTAGE SCAM OVER

Options
Having ripped every one off for 3 weeks with inflated prices for PS2's supposedly stuck on a boat in the Suez Canal and not coming until the New Year, amazing how the shops are suddenly full of them again just a few days before christmas. My local Game had them stacked high in the window today.

Those of you as old as me will remember previous scams like this, Cabbage Patch Dolls, Tracy Island, etc. Where retailers created a false and inflated market.

I heard a few weeks back that Sony were using those large Russian planes to import them into UK.

The scam was mainly caused by some greedy retailors that would only sell the ps2 with a bundle of games as they make more from games than the console itself.

No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you
  • Woolworths tried to sell me a PS2 with 2 rubbish games for £189, GAME offered similar for £199. I am glad I walked away at the beginning of the week. Just hope that my order from Argos does come on Monday as it said on the internet order. Haven't had a confirmation e-mail though. Still, if I see one on it's own in a shop guess I can buy it and cancel the Argos one.

Anyway, bye for now folks, off to CenterParcs for 3 days - as spotted by an MSE poster - £125 for 3 days! Can't be bad.

I'm off for a mega shop tomorrow down Pontefract - I would be surprised if I can't pick up a PS2 for £104.99 or less since all these retailers can be found:

    Currys
    Comet
    Argos
    Woolworths
    Choices Video
    2 Local Games Shops
WHSmith (They had them at one point)

I take offence to the op's remarks about false shortages, as a member of the pigeon fanciers association let me tell you we have been working day and night to fly ps2 units into the country and toward that goal there have been many losses in the line of duty! pigeons have been making up to six and seven return flights a day just to satisfy the greed and bloodlust of the ps2 user without so much as thank you, sadly the casualties are too numerous to mention here but rest assured deliveries will be maintained as there is many a loft in the country to call on in reserve should there now be a sudden shortage of games!

I think it's as much a way to sell the games they were stuck with as much as anything else, i.e. all the games no-one really wants but add the unavailable small ps2 and people bought all kinds of bad games. kind of a double whammy

I did overhear a conversation in Game where some woman was giving the manager a hard time over the rediculous price of their packages. I hope they lose a lot of customer goodwill over this. For me it's gamestation all the way - £120 with a game that's on the shelves for £38? not bad, and certainly not taking the pee!

Remember Save garages during the fuel shortages with 99p a litre? Where are they now??? It's bad for business Game!!!
