Very Nervous First Time Poster and First Time Family Holiday

Thank you for reading... I have searched and read and searched and re-read many many of your lovely posts and comments on here and they have been very informative so, thank you...

I wonder if anyone would mind offering further advice?... Sorry guys, I know that you do so much already :o....

:o my problem :o... I just cannot make a decision.... I am nervous of travelling and this is the situation...

Two parents (not very well travelled), two children, 7 and 5 (NEVER travelled) and a great need for a fabulous holiday...

We would like to go away for a week to 10/11 nights.
We are looking for a lovely all-inclusive holiday where the kids will not need to go anywhere but the complex (ideally full of water slides, fun things and lots of acitivities) and a beautiful safe beach... When I ask the kids what they want from a holiday they both ask for lots of lovely sand, if they can take their buckets and spades and lots of ice-cream!
We, the parents, would like to not have to worry about the food - all inclusive would be a must - and some luxury would be so sooooo lovely...

We have looked at at holiday with First Choice Premier Family at the Delphin Palace in Lara, Turkey (but only because that's the only brochure we've picked up so far)... It looks absolutely beautiful...

But I thought that you guys on here may know better choices or similar... Is about £2,000 - £2,500 an okay amount for this kind of holiday?

Is there anywhere that you would recommend for an all-inclusive first time family holiday like this?... We are looking to travel at any time and can go from July onwards.

Sorry am chatting to much! All advice welcome.

I would go into a travel agency or two with a bit of time to spare and see what holidays they suggest. Don't book -take their suggestions home and weigh them up. (or come on here and ask) For a first holiday away I'd consider Minorca but Turkey is good too. Everyone will suggest different places as great hotels and sandy beaches are plentiful wherever you look.
Once you start sifting through the brochres you'll start to get a feel for what you really want- like water sports included, bigger choice or resturants-that kind of stuff.

I'm guessing you are planning to go during the summer holidays?
I think Turkey is Very, very hot in the summer months and not somewhere I would go (personally) during July and August.

Have a look at the Canary Islands, which from my experience offer slightly cooler temperatures.
A friend of mine raves about the Riu Vistamar, Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria.

    Hi
I can't really offer any advice about where to go or how much is reasonable for your type of holiday (we're 2 early-retirees with no kids ;)) but I would advise that BEFORE you book anywhere, do check the hotel reviews on Tripadvisor and Holidaytruths to make sure it will suit you.

I hope you find the holiday that you're looking for.

Hello and welcome. Our first trip was to Minorca with the children but found it to be to cold as we went in October half term. Now we always go to one of the Canarie isles.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.

If you can go anytime AVOID July/August since hols can be twice as expensive plus most places are far too hot and congested.
Also we prefer self catering, can eat what and when we want.
All incs at best have haf decent food that you will be sick to death of after a few days.At worst the food will be poor quality or sat for hours and run risk of sickness
Sept/Oct is good time to visit Med

Whilst everyone is throwing holiday ideas around, for me I would just go to good 'ol Majorca. Can't go wrong for a first time family holiday. Go somewhere like Alcudia or Puerto Pollensa and get out. The whole place is so lovely you don't have to be stuck in a resort complex. If anything goes wrong, you're only 2hrs from home.

    Majorca? Lovely?

Lovely if you want British tourists in your hotel, abusing the all inclusive alcohol policies and being sick everywhere.

    What?!

How can you generalise like that? You always have the chance of coming across "unsavoury" people whereever you go in the world! And a small minority of places in Majorca, such as Magaluf, have a reputation for being alcohol filled "young" places to go. But the majority of Majorca, and infact Ibiza are beautiful family destinations!

Personally OP I would recommend the Balearics. Nice weather and not too far from home to travel to if you are abit anxious. Menorca is absolutely gorgeous and I would also recommend Majorca and Ibiza (Although watch what resort you choose)
