Changing at Philadelphia?

We would be grateful for any advice on changes at Philadelphia.

US Airways are coming out much cheaper than BA, shuttle from Manchester, with a change at Gatwick.

DS lives in Tampa, so we like to go as often as possible. We are going for Christmas.

    Might help http://www.phl.org/terminal_map_bc.html#usairways
Also check if there is another flight to Tampa that day on US Airways, so if you miss the connection and have a through ticket they will just put you on the next available flight.

I was just in Philadelphia. What exactly are you needing to know about the airport and changes?

    Perhaps considering

    Manchester (MAN)
    Depart 10:55
    Terminal 2 to Philadelphia (PHL)
    Arrive 14:00
    Terminal A 3,423 mi
    (5,509 km)
    Duration: 8hr 5mn
    US US.gif
    Flight: 735
    3 Economy/Coach Class, Lunch, AIRBUS INDUSTRIE A330-300

    Philadelphia (PHL)
    Depart 15:55
    Terminal B to Tampa (TPA)
    Arrive 18:37 921 mi
    (1,482 km)
    Duration: 2hr 42mn
    US US.gif
    Flight: 711
    3 Economy/Coach Class, Airbus A320

So terminal A to terminal B in 1hr :55 min through immigration and onto the next flight, how easy?

    Easy!

I've done Terminal A to F in less time than that. Also, I've not been on a US Airways flight from MAN to PHL that's actually taken 8 hours to get there, it's normally early!!!

When you get off the plane, you go through immigration, that'll take about 30 mins, pick up your bags, hand in your customs form, turn right, and head for the conveyor. Drop the bag on there, which is already tagged through to TPA, and head down the ramp, through security.

Once you're through security, turn left, and you're inbetween Terminal A and Terminal B.. Use the moving walkways, and you'll be in Terminal B in about 5 minutes.

All in all, it'll take you about 50mins to 1hr15mins, and you have to be at the depature gate 15 mins before departure, giving you plenty of time spare..

We fancy a US Airways flight from Manchester, with a change for Tampa. In to Terminal A, out to Tampa from Terminal B. The best one has just 2 hours between flights. With experience of both Chicago and Washington, I wondered whether this would be enough time.

BA is best for us, but it has got soooo expensive.

OMG! I hate Washington airport! That place was so unorganized when going thru immigration. I promised myself we would NEVER go to that airport again.
Phila. airport was smooth and with no problems. It took us a total of 10 or so mins. between waiting in line and getting the passports stamped and we arrived there at 4 in the afternoon so I think that was pretty good. I honestly don't think you will have any issues. 2 hours is enough time for sure ;)

i've changed in Philly in less time . no problems . we flew US Airways .

It is a Okay airport . basically you clear immigration and customs , give your bags to the handler to dump on the correct conveyer then enter domestic terminal through security .

even if you miss your second leg they will just bump you to the next flight . our first leg landed 2 hours late and we were re booked on a later connection , before we left Manchester .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

2 hours is fine at most airports. Do take food though, the onboard catering is nothing to write home about.
