The strange thing was that it was like getting blood out of a stone to get money off him, but as soon as I worked out the figures and said to him that he should be paying me a certain amount per week, he has been as good as gold about paying it (on time as well!). I never thought I would see the day (Terri - have you got a fainting smilie?!!)PigginSkint's debt free diary

Oh thank you I am very touched:o (in the head:rotfl:)
No condensed milk and yes angelic I am bored with the guessing it has no cream if you click on my profile and search my previous posts you will find the recipe is not secret I did tell you what was in it just not how much :rotfl::rotfl:I am too lazy and go and look for the post myself and it will teach you to pay attention:D:D
This is interesting Paul as I am contemplating paying my tax bill a few days late to give my pay cheque time to clear (I did say that money was tight at the mo ) so in view of what you have said I am going to take the risk and hope for leniency - from the taxman????????????

You should be OK I think DT. At worst, they might add a little bit of interest. Just make sure it's all cleared before 31/8 or you may get nobbled for the 5%. Even if you can't clear it by then, try to pay as much as possible because the 5% is only slapped on the unpaid bit.
You may be aware of this but it is possible to set up a bill payment via internet banking from your bank (making sure that you quote your tax reference). You don't have to actually visit the HMRC website to pay it. You do get a proper receipt though from HMRC if you go to their website though. I did consider making advance payments of £x per month. The trouble is that income can be so variable when self-employed and it only needs a few delays with incoming cheques to ensure that you can't meet the direct debit. Much better to pay some when I choose to because at least I know I have the money then.0
