TBH i can't be bothered with the chew,
Love that phrase Nickynoo! Sounds like you've got enough on your plate, so paying it back ends the stress. You do right, sometimes you need an easy life :)

Hello to everyone else :hello: Hope you're all ok.
No PAD for me today, but it's PAYDAY tomorrow - yay, so may do a bit of Christmas shopping in the sales!

Hey nickynoo. What a bummer, and you questioned it too. I am also one to shy away from confrontation (first to do so) but I reckon take a deep breath and at least argue back first. Maybe send them a letter explaining you raised this with your manager who advised the pay was correct? You don't work for them anymore so have nothing to lose in trying (assuming you have a reference etc sorted). They may admit its their mistake and offer to accept a lower amount. Its a long shot and and I'm not sure what the position is legally but gotta be worth a try rather than paying up straight away? Even if you write the letter it might buy you some breathing time to budget...? Can you drop into citizens advice to find out the legal position? Or even post somewhere? You're an MSE so have a crack first!! Good luck. If all else fails then "rent a mob" padders will send your ex - HR manager junk mail!! (I will sign him/her up for chafing cream trial to start with) :rotfl:

I'm no lawyer but I believe that the legal position is that the money was overpaid so is owed.
So far as moral position goes, my first offer would be to tell them to f off.
If really pushed, I believe that £1 a month would be reasonable to offer.

I need to go to the bank. I have a £50 cheque that can be thrown at payment a day as soon as I have paid it in. Until then, nothing! :-)
