You see that's the flaw in you plan right there, have you ever tried to get any sense out of ebay?
Everything is automated, you won't even get a real person to respond to your email, just an automated response based on key words in your mail.
however, i have an unpaid item dispute open at the moment and i've just looked at it, it seems since i last had one ebay have changed it, you now have the option to end the dispute and say that you have agreed with the buyer not to complete the transaction, and if you select this option you get a final value fee credit.0 -
I actually had the opposite problem before - I had listed something without the "collection" option and someone bought and paid for it then sent me a message to pick it up, when I said no they said actually they didn't want it and could they have a refund!
It didn't help that my item location was defaulted to my billing address (my parents' house, as I'm a student and move every year) not my shipping address, hence I was also (accidentally) breaking eBay policy.
But even if it had been in the right place, I'm not sure the buyer had a right to expect me to offer collection when it was clearly not listed!0 -

this is a problem that crops up on the ebay boards alot Pineapple, alot of people prefer collection and assume that it there as a default option on all listings, when quite often it isn't. Some business sellers without retail premises don't want buyers turning up to collect stuff, as their insurance doesn't cover them for this, some private sellers, especially women, aren't happy with strangers coming to their house to collect items, and i can't say i blame them. Some people are selling on ebay for the very reason that they don't want to deal directly with the public, they don't want people turning up at 8.30 at night to pick up a five pound item, they want to give it to the courier along with all the other items during working hours and forget about ebay when they've finished work, which is fair enough.
Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it, of your buyer doesn't want the item then you have the option of either sending him a mutual withdrawal form and hoping that he ticks it to say he agrees to cancel the sale, or file an unpaid item strike and risk getting a neg from him.0
