    Broadband has remained unaffected.

It was the BB service I was referring to more than the phone.

I am still getting my £1 discount for ebilling.

Wig, if you have had so much hassle with Virgin for so long why haven't you left them?

The £2 increase is for everyone who will not get 10m BB up from 2m.

Because it's only in the last year the service has taken such a nose dive. And the hassle/cost of maybe having to get a BT line installed. But as Sky recently did a deal offering free BT line install, it has made switching to BT a lot more attractive.

Of course I may choose not to have any landline phone at all.

Oh and to the user who said he was with BT £11 plus £22 BB, Sky were offering £17 BT phone & 2mb BB not so long ago. I dunno what is on offer at the moment, but there are deals out there to be had similar to Virgin.

If you don't have a phone line at the moment, you will have to have one installed if you leave Virgin and what internet and/or phone.

That's me! Reasonable offer from Sky, but I would still have to have the service sent through my BT line which can only offer me up to 1mb (typically 0.5mb) which is rubbish as the min I could get with Virgin BB cable is 2mb.
With a BT line if you live more than 2 inches from the telephone exchange your service is rubbish, it seems.

Yes, probably, if I don't choose to become a recluse. and Sky were offering a free BT line install, and with their current offer of a free HD box for TV I might go the extra mile, but I'll need to do more research.

I see!, but I hate Virgin so much at the moment it might be a sacrifice worth making, I don't think I'll miss the 2Mb (1.8Mb) service very much if I can get 1Mb through a BT line. :D

That's a good point. I complain about my less than 1mb speed from BT, but to be honest with you, it's perfectly usable. The only time it's a problem is when downloading something, and since I do very little of that, it doesn't matter all that much.
I just begrudge paying £22/mth for less than 1mb when I could get 10mb through cable for half the price.

I used to be on Virgin cable myself up to about 2 yrs ago, and I left them because they made me hate them too. They are a !!!!!! company for customer service, but the BB service is good.

So what services are you taking altogether for your £32 / mth ?

Large TV, M phone and well now its a 10mb internet line. Im thinking of upgrading to the XL TV and get the v+ box as it works out only about £3 or £4 more than im paying now.

Thanks Paulos. What's your general opinion of cable TV? Value for money? Alot of adverts ? Presumably you're happy as you're thinking of upgrading...

i noticed my bb bill steadily increasinging by a few pounds since jan 09. last month it was £19. i rang VM a few days ago and queried it. They told me my bills would be going up to £20 because i would be getting 10MB. I said I wasn't interested in 10MB. Was put through retentions and negotiated £10 for 6 months for the 2MB (will ring them up again in 6 months). Ive been ringing VM up now for a few years to negotiate this £10 deal. Sometimes they give me 6 months, sometimes 1 year-usually 6 months.

I'm stuck with VM as do not have and want landline.

It's the same as Sky TV - i.e. the channels/programs & advert slots are the same. (although the actual adverts shown will be different). Too many channels so that you cannot ever be satisfied that you are watching the best thing. Better to remain content with the 5 'land' channels which offer a very satisfactory choice, and subsequently it's an easier choice to make.

You can get 1000's of channels for free on freeview/freesat, but is it more of a headache than they are worth?
