Got 1st interview with CCCS on Monday, and just wanted to ask, most of the creditors we know amount owed & got to pay back, but a couple are a bit up in the air. (All from winding down a non Ltd company, father (died last year) & son) - my hubbie the son may or may not be liable for a few of the debts, we're still arguing that one.

Anyway can you start a DMP with CCCS and if needs be add additional creditors a little bit later ?

    Thanks

Hi I am in the process of adding a debt to the already set up DMP, so yes you can but not sure what they will think of a few debts added rather than 1.
  • Woah.....I got visited by one of those "doorstep lenders" today. Must know I'm in the **** with my money......question is HOW?????
Anyway I'm very proud to say that I resisted all of his sneaky tactics which included counting out money in front of me (Could have bashed him on the head, stole the money and hid him in my pantry!!) ;)
My local CAB have warned me that these doorstep lenders are becoming more and more popular so be warned!!!!!
I'm always in the brown stuff (marmite)....only the depth varies!!! :rotfl:

Hi all!! I'm a newcomer and hope to enter into this great support network - believe me - I need it!!
I've just started my DMP today - still getting loads of calls from all of the companies I owe money to - my partner doesn't know anything about all of this so things are a little tricky at the moment to say the least (!) but am commited to paying back this horrible debt mountain surely and steadily. It's a lonely road isn't it?? I've registered with CCCS and they have been the first positive helpful phonecall I've had in a long while - so currently feeling quite positive (until I check my mobile and home phone - which I've unplugged by the way and see how many missed calls I have!!) Oh well - will keep on keeping on and hope to chat to like minded people out there!

Welcome, and well done for starting the ball rolling. Can you not tell your OH what is happening? it must feel so lonely because you haven't told him! my OH knows about it and at first was worried but when I explained everything he thought it was a good idea, I think if you go about it the right way he should be onboard. anyway you know you have all the support of the lovely people on this thread ;)

Hi all - can anyone help. Instead of sending token payments as postal orders do you think I would be ok sending cheques from my mum? Just thought it would save the costs and not have my signature on it! Mum doesn't mind just wondered if anyone could advise?

    xx

Hi, just wondered what it was about the signature thing? I think I may have dropped a boo boo as Capital one sent me a letter saying that they couldn't do anything because the signature on my letter did not match the one they held on account, (which it didn't) so I re-signed and sent it back..........now thinking this was wrong?!!

 can't believe it, what a silly man, what did he think counting money out would do? he must be an idiot. well done you for staying calm and dealing with him.

mrsg2b - first of all you're not alone, we're all here to talk too and to help if possible : ) I think once you start ignoring calls and letters it's easy to get into that spiral and thinking that all news is bad news. I have done this before with friends and such in the past, and beleive me there's nothing worse then ignoring it all. I'm taking a different approach this time though and actually answer the phone everytime it rings when i'm at home and if someone is rude i simply keep my cool and say i'm sorry i'm not prepared to speak to you if you are going to be rude and nasty. I'd say bite the bullet and see what they want, you might then be able to rest at ease, at least you will know what they wanted and not be sat there thinking oohh they're trying to get hold of me and i dont know why! x

    Hey Cleomolly

Thanks for your advice yesterday....i took it and they called back this morning, answered and it was only to talk about the loan payments....told I'm i was with CCCS and gave them the reference, he tried to take a payment on phone, and when I flatly told him I only make payments to CCCS he disappeared rather sharpish!! Bless!

Hope you're all having a good day!

Hi, I'm a newbie having floated around this site for ages! I have had my interview with CCCS and am embarking on a DMP. However, I was going to self administrate. Are creditors more likely to accept reduced payments if CCCS arranged the DMP for me or does it not make any difference?

Also, would it be best to phone all my creditors first to see if I can negotiate with them (which is scary but am prepared to do!) or should I just send off my letters. I am having to reduce my payments by about a third.

    Any advice would be appreciated!

    Hi Jakey

I've heard it said that some creditors will only accept a DMP through one of the debt charities such as CCCS, Payplan etc, because they know you're sticking to an agreed, fair budget and that all available income is being fairly distributed between creditors. Having said that, there are a number of people on this forum doing their own DMPs (including Eupho, who I haven't seen around for a while but will no doubt reappear soon) and report this is working out well for them. There is a thread about self-managed DMPs - can't find it, may have slipped back a few pages on the forum as it moves so quickly - which will help you.

Not sure about the telephone/letter thingy. Depends upon how brave you are feeling I guess! If you decide to ring before sending the letters I'd advise you ask to speak to the specific department that deals with customers having financial difficulties, rather than just speaking to the 1st person you come to.

    Hope this helps
