Just spoken to my first creditor over the phone, RBS credit card, was a bit nervous but no need really. The guy in collections was understanding and seemed perfectly willing to accept that I was doing what I can to pay and that the debts will be paid off in full.

I will consider that phone call to be the first hurdle cleared.

Oddly enough, I've had more hassle from my essential payments people getting the direct debit details changed to the new bank account...go figure.

It's great when you actually speak with someone who understands your problem and is willing to help isn't it, I honestly believe that DCA would claw back a lot more cash if they treated people more fairly.

  • Hi Guys

I hope you are all well today.
Does anybody with experience of Halifax (Aqua) know how long it normally takes for them to pass an account to their in house DCA Blair Oliver and Scott, when they are un willing to accept a DMP.

ours is about 9.5 years and i will be 64 then but its a long time, things happen, things change, you could win the lottery!!!! You have to look at that as your absolute maximum, and hope to God you get time off for good behavior!!! and sometimes, you have to engineer your own good behavior, save for F&Fs, sell stuff and pay off debt, get a second job for a while and throw it at the debt. It might not be easy, but it ain't hopeless, go girl you can do it.

PS you're right, we should all have noticed a bit earlier, how thick was I??????

  • The Halifax (Aqua) saga continues.
I came home to a letter asking for me to write to them if there was a problem with them calling me and they would arrange another method of communication, they even supplied an address to write to and yes you guessed it, it's the address I have already sent letter after letter to without a response.

They really are disorganised or totally taking the !!!!

My DFD was 20 years when I started out on my DMP, but I just saw it as being better than paying minimum payments for the rest of my life. I've managed, through promotion, budget cutbacks, and adjusting PP's budget allowances to shorten this to 7 years. Still a long time, but in theory, I should be debt free before I'm 40!
