Hi All,
Hope your all doing well. i've been accepted on a low DMP and have cancelled all my DD's and sent off my notification of DMP letters. So i'm sitting tight waiting for the s*** to hit the fan:eek:
I move abroad in 2 weeks time so my lovely mummy is going to be opening the mail, but not fielding the calls as i have hopefully removed my landline number before all the letters went in.
I've redeemed an old policy for about £900 and would like it to go to my creditors, is this easily done through the CCCS? eg ring them up and transfer it pay cheque etc.
Also does anyone have experience of doing a DMP whilst abroad?
Many Thanks,
x0 -

OH was all geared up to call Mint about the extra charges, when he said, "Hang on, there's a small minus sign beside these..." Needless to say, it was the interest from last month refunded. My (feeble) excuse is that we are so used to creditors taking money for any reason that I just panicked. All this is making me paranoid!!!
Thanks for help anyway, hopefully next time I'll actually READ the letter.

Well you great Irish numpty - would you like to borrow my glasses???
Completely understand. We're all so used to seeing a + instead of a - on credit card staements!
BTW looking for a cheap holiday this year. Do you do B + B? Sure many of us would love to visit your part of the world and just think of the money you'd make:rotfl:

Hi there. Just to say that I tried this just before I started my DMP last month, and I'm afraid it didn't work. I have been called at least 4 times a day over the past week - ten days (although I now have a Tru call unit so their calls get "zapped" :rotfl:) But if you're not there, then you can't speak to them anyway, so I guess it won't matter.£365 in 365 days - £187/£365

Well todays the day, we are sending off our Notification of DMP letters today. Cant say Im looking forward to whats to come. We've got 7 creditors, so thats gonna be a lot of letters etc! Has anyone got any tips?
I've just finished changing the bank over, so the overdraft with Natwest is the last to be done. Cant say Im looking forward to hearing from them, seems people have had lots of negative letters and calls from them.
Just to make me worry more I noticed when getting the proof of income together last night, that my child tax credit is gonna go down by £80 in April. We only have £139 to pay creditors to start with. Not sure what to do now. Dont think I can cut the money from elsewhere. Why are things never easy
Because life is a !!!!! sometimes!
Try not to fret about tax credit - I get a small amout of Working Tax credit which is also due to be cut in half. I've found in the past it's best just to wait till get your final figure-it seems to vary so much and it's no good worrying till you've got the final figures before you.
I'm on a low start DMP as my income is not large-be honest with creditors-pay back what you can reasonably afford.
You've done the best you can. Suggest you look back over this thread for tips and support to see how others manage and cope. Best wishes to you.

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is well - havent been on here for ages!
Well, I cant believe that my DMP is nearly 1 year old - this time last year I was frantically figuring out how on earth I was going to pay all the Xmas bills and this year Im having a couple of little treats instead!
Citi have terminated my account - but I couldnt care less tbh! Interest is frozen anyway and the payment they're getting was more than the minimum so I should think it'll just carry on. One of my catalogue accounts is now in the £300's, it was in the £500's if I remember rightly so things are moving! I have 3 defaults now due to my DMP but I'm not too concerned - I have a decent debit card and full current account plus a couple of basics (one of which reports - there's been nothing in it for about 6 months so loads of lovely green 0's for me) My payment to Lowell will be finished in April and then I might think about a few F&F's on my smaller debts. (I only owe NatWest and Brilliant Gift Shop a couple of hundred each so if I got shot of those its more to throw at Citi and Littlewoods who are causing me most grief, Littlewoods in particular are nightmares)
OH has just dipped his toe into the murky world of credit  He's took out finance for a new car, his rugby season ticket and has taken out his first ever overdraft for the princely sum of £100He's better with money than me though so it wont cause him problems - however I wish I had never set eyes on them dam catalogues!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone, had 3 lovely letters in the post this morning! 2 were from MBNA telling me how wonderful they are in stopping my interest...temporarily and if i'd just like to call them and increase my payments now as my accounts are over limit (their fault not mine......read charges)!! then that would be lovely!
The other one was from Barclays bank regarding my overdrawn current account to say that they have spent many hours considering my very kind offer but they will have to refuse it and if I would like to call them ....blah blah blah i'm sure you can guess the rest! Have forwarded all letters to Payplan but I certainly won't be upping my offers because......thats all the money I have!! Not sure which bit of this they can't seem to understand?? The bit that made me chuckle was the 'informative leaflet' they included with the Barclays letter that seemend to play 'good cop, bad cop' eg were so sorry to hear your problems......but if you don't pay then a whole list of nasty things that could happen.....but we really don't want to do this and we understand your trying your best......lol
Tooth fairy - well done in getting some money back!!! :T
Newlywed - lol love it! :rotfl:
Anyhelptaken - sorry to hear your sad news, sending hug :grouphug:Goal weight....lighter than when I started0 -
Hi All, Im new and have just taken the first step to set up a DMP with CCCs (ive filled in the online form) - I have a few questions...
1) Do I pay my debtors or does CCCs? Ive been reading the threads and it sounds as if you are paying the payments whereas I thought the CCCs paid them for you?
2)When making a payment to CCCs how do I pay it?
3) Do credit card companies HAVE to freeze interest?? I dont want to me in a position where they dont! I have 6 credit cards  and 2 loans!! Surely i cant end up worse off - Can I ?????
Scared!!
Welcome Kaths101!
1) You pay what you can afford as a monthly sum to CCCS. They then dish out the money to your Creditors according to however they do it (I believe it's according to your minimum payment percentage. A CCCS er will be able to tell you!).
2) Not sure. Think it's by Standing Order? Anyone else shed some light?
3) Your Creditors do not have to freeze interest at all. However CCCS will try to negotiate with them. It's a bit hit or miss as to who stops interest though. Some creditors treat some DMPers different. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme(sp) or reason to it. At the beginning there is a possibility you could be worse off (see my signature!).
Feel free to ask more Qs on here!

Hi all, hope you're all doing well. I haven't been on for several weeks as I wanted a break from talking about debts over the Christmas & New year period. I thought it was about due that I spent the same amount of time on my family as I have dealing with all my debts & different fights against creditors.
Just talking about defaults & CCJ's, it's amazing really when you step back & think about it how those of us in debt feel about them. The common consensus is that CCJ's are far worse than Defaults, but it's just not true. Financial institutions regard having a default as equal to having a CCJ & both stay on your credit file for 6 years.
Then you have the fact that with a default a creditor can continue adding interest & charges. With a CCJ because its been through a court (which if you have no reason to defend you don't even attend the court), the interest & charges are stopped. The Judge will look at your situation & set a repayment rate which is likely to be very close to that of what the CCCS or Payplan are already giving them. Unless the creditor has gone for a forthwith judgement, which allows them to apply for a charging order or similar, then all you'll ever pay is the installments the Judge has awarded & as long as you maintain that you're pretty much protected from any further action. With a default you have no protection at all.
I just think it's strange how we've all been lead to believe that CCJ's are evil but that Defaults, whilst not being good, don't get the same bad press.:j DMP mutual support thread member - 135:j0 -
I have taken the plunge into my DMP, first payment goes on the 1st Feb and I should be debt free in under two years if creditors are willing to freeze interest on my debts. Does anyone have any advice for those of us just starting out on our journeys?DMP mutual support thread member: 376

Haha - the truth is I actually wear glasses to read! Should have gone to Specsavers!!
I wish I did B&B, I was in Belfast city centre the other day and I've never seen so many tourists, it's great. Hope we all have a good w/end, for once we are getting the best of the weather, all our snow is gone and its 10c. It's a bit breezy, mind, but over here we call a force 9 hurricane "good drying weather"!!
