  • Hi all,

Short update from a lurker and ocassional poster.

Have been on the DMP with CCCS since Oct 09, with 3 creditors.
Hitachi were a pain to start with, making threats etc and once tried to get me to ignore my budget and pay them the money set aside for clothes, haircuts etc. Defaulted my account in Dec.
Intelligent Finance, start off okay, explain my situation to them, but they defaulted my just before Xmas, and passed onto Blair Oliver Scott (knew they where still part of BOS) I was dreading calling BOS but the man could not have been more helpful, explained that as had been passed to them no more charges would be added an interest would be frozen.
Northern Rock - accepted DMP day one, no problem.

I also approached CAB to look into Debt Arrangement Scheme, DAS, which is a Scottish version of a DMP where charges are stopped and interest is frozen. This seems to be progessing and it looks like it will be accepted.

Not sure if anybody has changed from DMP to DAS , would appreciate some info on what was involved.

I know my credit rating is shot to bits, but have no plans to look for any in the future, except for my mortgage. Would it make any difference being on a DAS or DMP if I needed to move mortgage?

Just found out that on a DAS, my payment distributor takes 10% of my payment so creditor only gets 90%, felt guilty for about 30 secs.

Also thinking that as my DMP is going okay, why change but I suppose the protection from charges/interest that a DAS offers is better

    FF

Nice to hear from TP and Kudox, long time no hear!! If it wasn't for you being one of my first replies on here, I don't know where I'd be, haha!! It's just reminded me how really helpful everyone has been. TP - I've also been very sad to read some of the stories from the Newbies, hope they are all coping ok.

OH got his Mint c/c bill today, they have already stopped interest, but have slapped on £63 'cash finance charge' and £55 'purchase finance charge". The debt on the card is £6K. They haven't done this to my debt with them, which is less. Has this happened to anyone else? Maybe its the Halifax all over again, sticking on charges at the start. Any ideas much appreciated, thanks.

I'm off now before Ian sees there really is an 'Old Girl' blocking up t'internet!!

    Hi Tooth Fairy
Sorry no answer to your question but hope someone will be along to help you soon. The charges you describe sound horrendous and also a bit dodgy I would have thought.
As you say good to have an update from TP and Kudox. They are both ever helpful. And by the way Toffee Penny - really hope you have your lottery win soon. Just don't forget you have lots of friends here :D
As for you TF you're just in the flush of youth. (Can't stay and talk cos got to collect my pension and top up the botox :rotfl:)

Hi all, could anyone who has had(or knows about) a ccj tell me what the process involves and when you have to fill in the form they send you redarding your income and outgoings etc.. Do to have to prove your income or do they just accept what you tell them?
Thanks folks and keep at it!

Hi you may have seen from my 12 month update last night that i now have a CCJ from Natwest...here's what happened....

I has a current acc with o/d of £5k and a loan of about £8k...both had built up over many years.

I sent a token payment for the loan in Feb and March 09 but not the o/d.

I got numerous letters and phone calls declining my DMP offers, and the odd...if you can just pay £10 a month more type calls...but obviously £10 a month more to Natwest meant £10 a month more to everyone....eventually they defaulted both and moved them to a DCA, the DCA then declined the DMP and they were moved to a Solicitor acting on behalf of N/W. They too declined the DMP and then in August last year i received a court threat, obviously i couldnt clear £13k so they took it to court.

I was sent forms out and through CCCS and this site, plus the information they send you i was able to fill them out. No proof of income or expenditure was required, but i did send a copy of my CCCS budget sheet. I had to indicate if i was making an offer, disputing the debt or going to be clearing it in full. I made an offer equivalent to my DMP payment.

I didnt attend court although i assume i could have if i'd wanted, and towards the end of September i got a letter confirming the CCJ and that the court had ruled that i needed to pay the monthly amount equivalent to my DMP offer (well actually 4 pence a month less???) until the debt was clear...all interest was then stopped and i was advised that if Natwest wanted to appeal the ruling then i would hear from the court in 14 days....i didnt.

The whole time it was going on i kept in regular contact with N.W and then the DCA and more recently the solicitors, it was a little frightening and unnerving but given the number of defaults i already had and the fact i dont want credit ever again i dont really see a CCJ as the end of the world.

    Hope this helps?

  • Hi MSC glad to hear everything is ticking over nicely same here. Can't believe it's been a year.... time flys when your having fun.

All our creditors have stopped interest finally. GE Money were the last ones, managed to convince them in Oct. Not sure how many defaults but no threat of CCJ or C/O yet but like yourself if it happens it happens it won't be the end of the world.

No review with CCCS yet, but I can't up my payments anyway, our pay reviews have been moved to April so nothing has changed in our budget for the last 6 months. It's funny that we had our LBM on the same day and my DFD is now Mar 2015 but I want to make it for Jan 2015 as it's my 40th... Spooky....

Hi Becks, i remember you being around, way back at the beginning.

Glad to hear things are ticking over for you as well! We had a three month CCCS review in the summer but although we really should have reduced our payment a little they worked with me to juggle the figures to keep my payment the same. I really didnt want to reduce the payments to creditors when we were only 4 months in. I anticipate a letter March time to tell me that my annual review is ready - although TBH as we are ticking over i'm going to try and keep it at the same amount.

i think just one catalogue is still charging us, but other than that (and with the exception of the CCJ) everyone else seems to be playing ball. We're not exactly on course for 2015 anymore but CCCS assure me that this will reduce!

    Good Luck.

  • Well after deciding to do a self admin DMP i sent out our letters to creditors yesterday with token payment postal orders and advising them that i will send these again each month until our budget is properly sorted out. Let the backlash begin eek. If any one who is self admin on here could offer any advive it would be much appreciated. I reckon the phone calls will start this weekend

My husband feels much better that we are dealing with this ourselves as CCCS were pretty much insisting we get rid of our dogs (who tbh only cost £25 a month) which we really couldnt bear to do as one is a rescue dog who was with 5 different owners in his first year before we got him 4 years ago and i think it would finish the poor animal off if he moved owners again.
My husband and i have finally had our LBM and are ready to deal with our debts!! Not for ourselves but for our beautiful daughter and her little sister who is due to appear May 2010. :o

Well todays the day, we are sending off our Notification of DMP letters today. Cant say Im looking forward to whats to come. We've got 7 creditors, so thats gonna be a lot of letters etc! Has anyone got any tips?
I've just finished changing the bank over, so the overdraft with Natwest is the last to be done. Cant say Im looking forward to hearing from them, seems people have had lots of negative letters and calls from them.
Just to make me worry more I noticed when getting the proof of income together last night, that my child tax credit is gonna go down by £80 in April. We only have £139 to pay creditors to start with. Not sure what to do now. Dont think I can cut the money from elsewhere. Why are things never easy :(

hi msc1977,sorry to hear about your ccj:mad: we are just starting down the dmp route and im trying to prepare myself for the worst outcome,it is very nervewracking at the start as im sure you know, like you we couldnt care if we never received credit again!!!
im self employed and was just worried about proof of income etc if it did go down the ccj route, when your self employed your accounts are a year behind but you pay in advance(complicated i know),
i dont even care anymore if i get a ccj,was just worried about te process itself, but you have put my mind to rest:T
thanks again and hang in there,
