  • Hi all,

I'm hoping you lovely people can help me?

I'm on a DMP with Pay Plan and have been for over a year, however today I've received three letters to say that they've not received payments from them - I think this is due to Christmas/New Year. So instead of getting there on the 3rd as agreed they've got the 7th or 13th.

Capquest want full payment - they can jog on.

Barclays payment always seems to be late. Confussed!

When this happened to me (with CCCS) I rang the DMP company to check when payment went. Then rang the creditors saying look, it was late, there were bank holidays ;) Each of them said it was an automated letter and that any charges mentioned wouldn't be put onto the account

Anyway, bit of news here, seems likely that I'll be redundant. Unlikely to get a job for my current salary or anywhere within 5k of it so depending on how quick I can get another job/what I can get, I might be hopping over to the bankruptcy board.

That was never my plan, I always wanted to pay it all back. But if I can't, then I can't. I don't own a house or anything so it might be ok. It's my backup plan.

Has anyone on here gone to token payments some time into a DMP (nearly half way through the debt )? Did they end up with CCJ's?

    hi Lily

just to let you know both myself & my hubby work & worked for a bank (he was made redundant) and being on a dmp is fine.

I had to discuss with my line maager the finiancial mess we were in but couldn't have been more surprised as felt i was being supported,

i do wish i hadn't taken out umpteen cards etc but we/ i did and now having to deal with it.

even if you go down the iva route (i personally wouldn't) it should still be ok - tell your hubby to look intio his internal HR polices.

    take care

    sas

Hi sas and everyone else who has replied

You have def put my mind at rest my husband is going to speak to his HR on Monday to check his contract but we are hoping there won't be a problem.

We have also been through our budget again today and we are going to try and up are payment on the DMP to £400 this can be increased again in the summer when my youngest starts school and we will be £350!! a monthbetter off as we won't have to pay childcare anymore.

Its a real roller coaster this and I kind of know it will prob be worse before it gets better.
    Thanks for your help today

    Hi all,

Haven't posted for a while. Haven't had to, since DMP set up with CCCS all 8 creditors went quiet. All accepted and stopped charges and everything ticking along nicely.

    Then today I received 2 letters from different creditors;
MBNA to say that as long as I carry on making my payments then my account will have no charges or interest added upto the point the debt is cleared. They have (of course) closed the credit facility!!
Barclayloan to say all charges and interest will also be stopped until the debt is cleared.

All of this was un-prompted and unexpected. I tought i would have to have a 6 month review with them at least.

Oh well happy days... only 6 years to go! :rotfl:

    Hi,

Do you mind me asking how much your barlcay loans are for? As I have two which are both defaulted but still getting charged interest. I have been on my DMP for 8 months now!! I was planning to write to them next time I am on holiday from work to ask them to reconsider as they are the only ones still charging and I am not actually that far from original payments. Total payment originally was £385 total and CCCS now pay £238.

I have been kind enough to stay banking with them also and for about 10days before everything comes out I have a nice credit balance which I sure they use to make some sort of money in banking world:rotfl:

Would also like others opions on the best way to approach this too.

    Hi
Just to let bobbych know... my debt is WAY more than Lily's and my payment only slightly more than what Lily is able to offer ,and ALL 9 of my creditors have accepted my payments AND stopped interest and charges, so I don't feel that your comments were either factual or supportive to Lily!! We are on here to support each other through this tough time and in particular the newbies!
Lily, don't become too hung up with you DFD and try not to make your budget too tight! I'm sure all the old timers on here will agree with me with this one. You're not going to have access to anymore credit so you MUST ensure that your budget is realistic....so just make sure that you leave yourself enough to live on with a little 'extra' for any emerhency that may crop up.
    Take care and good luck!

  • Hi,

I haven't posted for a little while. Things have been going fairly smoothly. I have just received a letter from CCCS asking me to contact them about my 6 month review, is this anything to worry about? I have had a small payrise since the plan started, but my gas payments have gone up a lot, and I forgot to include my son's travel costs. I'm hoping to be able to keep payments the same. Do people thing that will be accepted or is the trend always to want an increase?

I have just received my Next statement, which shows no payment received for December and interest added again, so I will have to sort that out. It's annoying as I was ahead on my Next account, so I don't know what's happened. Other December payments have been received, so hopefully its just a glitch on their part.

Finally my letter to Egg asking them to stop interest, while not responded to has had the desired effect, and there has been no interest charged for the last 2 months, so at last the balance is going down. Now only 1 account is still charging interest, so at least I'm seeing some benefit for totally blowing my credit rating to bits!

Hi Pink power your review is nothing to worry about at the end of the day CCCS is in effect working for you so they only advise you on what to pay they cant force you to pay more!!! I have had reveiw and told them similar about gas and elec and theywent through other things on budget and payment went down no obviously this has impact on lenght of DMP but you still have to live a life its bad enough me and wife not been out for ages!!! So just tell them the true facts and things will work out.
Proud to be dealing with my debts :j:j

Hi Lily, Please don't worry too much, I have £34000 across 9 creditors and I only pay £110 a month because that is all I now have! I am with Payplan and they didn't really ask my why I was in debt they just suggested a phrase to me which I have used on all my creditor phone calls which is 'over commitment to credit' as soon as you say that to creditors they just say 'ok' and then carry on, nearly all of my creditors have accepted only my current account with barclays and mbna haven't and they may go to DCA or CCJ, but there is nothing I can do about it (unless my 6 lucky numbers come up...wish wish) so i've decided to not worry about it and what will be, will be. I don't EVER want a credit card EVER again and i'll be 50 odd by the time i've paid it all back but I really don't mind. Truth is I could probably scrimp and save and make my payments slightly higher but then for the next 20 years i'll never be able to go anywhere or do anything and I can't live like that as that was what my life has been like for the last couple of years with all this debt hanging over me, so I have decided to give them what I can afford but left myself a little to take me and my little one on days out sometimes and be able to take him to the cinema once in a while. No-one wants to be a prisonner in their own home and it's not fair on my ds to never be able to go anywhere or do anything.
Feel 100% better now i'm on a dmp and I do like Payplan as they have a really good website called 'justabank' and it will write you all the letters and things you may need which I have found really useful and have used successfully to get Tesco and Mint to stop charging interest and fees but CCCS is really goos as well just make sure who ever you use is FREE!!!

    Good luck x
    Goal weight....lighter than when I started :D
