I really don't get these companies. I have started my DMP, have told all my creditors in writing, and in some cases also over the phone, and there are numerous phone calls from them logged to my number. So why on earth have I been sent a new credit card from both Tesco and Egg
Oh, that's right. They would rather that I stayed in debt and continue to pay them extortionate amounts of interest each month for the rest of my life
Shall I send them back to them with a nice note telling them exactly where to put them :rotfl:£365 in 365 days - £187/£365

Hello all, hope everyone had a relaxing and peaceful Christmas and New Year.
Geoffmr1 and Andytwonames, thank you very much for your replies regarding the "heavy letter" from Red Castle Recoveries I posted about last month, after my Post Office card account was passed over to them. I'm basically sitting tight to see what happens - I decided to e-mail Payplan in the end with a transcript of the letter and they said that since they had only just contacted Red Castle round about the same time, things had "crossed over" and this letter was quite usual.
Dotnetter - I had the Managed Loan offer from HSBC a couple of months ago, after starting my DMP in September. I was quite tempted especially a they were offering 0%! After advice on here to be wary I sent a copy of the paperwork to Payplan to check out and they advised me not to go ahead, as the loan would consolidate two debts (my card and overdraft with them) and would give them the opportunity to charge higher interest on the bigger total, and to chase harder for it too. I just ignored it and didn't even send a response.
Here's what's been happening next with me and HSBC cards. I started to get cycles of phone calls (all ignored) from November and then a final demand for the full amount, and then not long before Christmas had another letter saying they were about to hand the account over to a DCA but "really really didn't want to have to, and wanted to work with me to sort something out". Also possibility of CCJ's, Bailiffs, etc. I sent a recorded letter just stating again that I was on a DMP and giving my reference but found this never got there! I despair of the Post Office, it's the second time it's happened. Well, no thanks to my letter, I found last week on Justabank that HSBC had accepted the DMP on 29th December, and I actually had to e-mail Payplan to check it wasn't a mistake because I was still (and am still!) getting phone calls from them. So none of it has any pattern or reason really with them. I'm just happily ignoring the calls now and expect they will tail off.
Egg are obviously shifting a job lot because I had the Cabot Financial letter too. It said I didn't need to contact them and just to pass the letter on to Payplan and make sure payments came to them from now on, so I've done that, hopefully things will carry on the same.
So I hope everything will settle down but will wait and see!DMP Mutual Support Thread No 336 - proud to be a number!LBM - June 20th 2009Total of Horror  - [STRIKE]£39,909[/STRIKE] August 2010 £35,421 :jDFD - Feb 2018 (approx). I'll be 47   !!0 -
Hope everyone had a good christmas and a good new year.
Just an update on how my self admin DMP is going. I have just completed my first year, on my DMP. I have had a couple of reviews with my creditors and have offered slightly more to each of them with they are all happy with for now.
I am just wondering if anyone has a mortgage and if so what kind of mortgage they have and how easy was it to renew or to get a new deal with a different mortgage provider on a DMP? At the mo I am on the SVR.cross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot

I then got a very unpleasant person at Next Collections who told me that as I had called after 4pm today they were not able to help me. I had to speak to the "daytime team" who could adress my issue (this was after asking me for £ 1,020 to settle the account in it's entirity - lol!!!). I have to take time back from work to call them tomorrow between 8am and 4pm, so I feel a bit more confident in my ground now!. Thanks again - things like this really show what a fantastic resource this forum is!:T

How did it go with Next? Am assuming you got the same answer as us?

Hi Em
Called them at 8am today - not only did they tell me the same as they had told you, they reset my plan for a further 6 months and refunded my charges - these companies get more bizarre by the day!!!! At least I know to look out for this when it happens the next time (as I'm sure it will!) and not to panic too much. They funny thing was that when I had my review with CCCS last Thursday, Next was one of the companies that I had been praising to the hilt with how well they had accepted the plan etc. My next mission now is to get OH's and my Lloyds TSB Credit Card collections departments to play ball wih me in some small way (but I don't fancy my chances).

Oh, and don't forget creditors have to vote in favour of an iva, they are not guaranteed!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have £38,000 of debt and pay CCCS £420 per month, started last June, all 7 creditors stopped intrest by September except Barclays who reduced it to 3%. Some of us are in for a long haul, but it doesnt mean to say the creditors wont except.0 -
Thanks trying to stay positive, your post gives me optimism. Today has been very difficult, about 10 calls from halifax alone, even though they have been advised of cccs ref on the phone and in writing. Automated calls over and over again, so annoying and stressful, have rang bt and had call prefererencing put on line for free, apparantly this stops 91% of automated calls, I will wait and see. Citi cards rang at 8.45pm, they had rang saturday too at 8.30am, i warned them not to do this anymore as i regard it as harrasement. Any tips greatly appreciated ; )DMP MUTUAL SUPPORT THREAD MEMBER 3780

Speak to them (assuming you haven't done so 10 times today). You'll be surprised. A lot of them phone up, say "oh sorry, not sure why we're ringing you", then either hang up, or they'll make a note to hold calls for however long. It may not be immediate though. If you avoid the phone then they'll keep ringing.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430

Hi All
Happy New Year !
I haven't posted for a few months as my DMP with CCCS has been running smoothly. My first payment was back in July and I can honestly say that it has changed my life for the better, the first couple of months were quite stressfull, but now things have settled down and debt is no longer in my head 24 hours a day.
My first review with CCCS wasn't due until June but I am now in a position of being able to increase my deposit by a small amount from next month and CCCS have said that my creditors will be pleased
All of my creditors have accepted my DMP and all but one have frozen interest, the remaining creditor has reduced my interest rate to a minimal amount. My advice to anyone thinking of starting a DMP with CCCS would be to go for it, not all creditors will reduce or freeze interest, if they don't, write to them and ask them to reconsider, if at first they refuse don't give up, contact them every month. Always check your statements and keep an eye on your balances.
The very best of luck and remember things will improveDMP mutual support thread member:3270 -

I could'nt speak to them yesterday when they were ringing the home number as halifax cc is oh's account so they would'nt discuss it with me anyway, but oh did speak to them (again )as they were also ringing him on his work mobile number. They managed to squeeze another token payment out of him (he already made one last week when he spoke to them) but he just wanted to get rid of them because he was at work. I told him he should'nt have done that. He did tell them to stop phoning or he will report them for harrassment so lets hope that works. They have now been given the cccs ref number 4 times but don't seem to be listening, they have also had the dmp notification letter with the ref on it. I don't know what more we can do.DMP MUTUAL SUPPORT THREAD MEMBER 3780
