Has anyone had their charges stopped by mint/tesco's? If so how long did it take and did you have to send them a letter to ask them to do this? I have just been looking at my online statements and it seems that they are the only ones still charging interest + late payment fee + overlimit charge which is adding up to loads extra going on the balance, the silly thing is they are my 2 cc with the least balance!!Goal weight....lighter than when I started0

Just had my phone call from an equity release company after being referred by CCCS. Very brief conversation as I had done some research, so we cut straight to the chase. Chap admitted after only a couple of minutes that equity release would be a completely wrong option for me and entirely unsuitable. (my debt would roughly double every 10 years)
So as geoffmr1 so rightly said CCCS do not always have the answers. Equity company seemed to think that CCCS were adding this to their debt clearance options but it sure ain't a 'Get of jail free' card! As always check the facts for yourself and look for support. So a big festive thankyou to all who post and advise on this thread.:xmassmile We're all in the muck together- but let's remember roses need compost to grow!
And apologies again to geoffmr1-you were such a sitting target!

Well,
I think the people at CCCS must have thought I was Bonkers today :rotfl:Due to them making payments earlier in Dec, which I was reminded of everytime I logged on, made my SO payment on the 1st, plently of time to reach them.
To my horror today I got an email saying they hadnt had payment, so was straight on the phone. Gentleman with a lovely voice at the other end said the payment definitly hadn't reached them but because I was so sure it had been paid got in touch with the payments dept. Turns out the payment reference was incorrect so had go into their suspence account so all quickly sorted, so I thought.................
Due to where I work no phones are allowed in the building so when I get to my car I have a txt to say my payment hasnt been made, eekkk so back on the phone and again spoke to another lovely lady, this time. She explained that the txt had been sent before I spoke to them at lunch but my phone is just poop so it crossed in the ramdomness of space.
By this point I had to explain that I just wanted to check as everything is ticking along nicely and just dont want to mess up to which I got the reply it is always better to be safe than sorry which made me smile.
So, just wanted to reiterate other people on here CCCS are great on the DMP stuff and wont think you are bonkers or paranoid even if you are.:D

Has anyone got any debt with Halifax and got to the point where they are paying their minimum payment or more via the DMP. I am nearly at this point and worried they will start charging the full amount of interest again, its currently on a reduced rate.
If they did it would be a major pain as I am starting to make small inroads, at last.
Thoughts appreciated

Hello all!
Been quite a while since I've posted, although I've been lurking every now and then.
An update from me: I am now 2 months into my DMP and feel bl00dy brilliant! Everyone (and hardly anyone knew about my debts or knows about my DMP as have kept it fairly quiet because of the nature of my work - and if I'm honest because I still haven't quite got over the feelings of being a "failure" so have wanted to keep it to myself as much as possible) has noticed how much happier I am. My OH has noticed a huge change in my mood and says I seem to be enjoying life again. As I'm sure you all know, debt takes over your entire life and for a long while, when my head was still firmly in the sand, I just didn't sleep, eat or function very well. However, my DMP through the CCCS has been amazing! I admit the budget is hard to stick to - especially coming up to Christmas with presents to buy, parties to go to etc. but I'm learning to say no a lot more!
Most creditors (and it seems to be the ones I owe most to who are the most sympathetic and prepared to help out - probably realise its the only way I'll ever be able to pay them back!) have stopped interest and charges - even one (my old current account) where the amount owed shot up HUGELY after I'd started the DMP (evil cheque til payday loans that wouldn't accept my DMP so cashed the cheques which my bank honoured despite knowing I was on a DMP) didn't add any extra charges. Was so impressed with them and extremely grateful as that had been one of my biggest worries about going on a DMP.
However I do have one issue that I hope one of you lovely DMPers might have some advice on:
One of my store cards (through Santander) is being a bit of a nightmare. Because the payment they are receiving through CCCS is actually more than the minimum amount they do not class me as being in "financial hardship" so definitely won't stop charges and interest. However, because of the date CCCS pays them I am now "paying them late" and as a result am incurring late charges every month, plus receiving constant calls from them.
I have tried speaking to them and although they acknowledge that the CCCS has been in touch and that they have been receiving the payments through them, they say that doesn't constitute an arrangement with them, so as a result it appears that I am going to receive a late fee every month as well as interest etc. which means that my CCCS payment to them is less than they are adding on to my balance every month so my debt is actually going up! So I am now in a worse position with them than before I began the DMP.
I'm not sure what to do about this as it seems a bit bonkers really - they are getting more money from me every month than they used to but I am being charged more!
Can anyone help with some advice on how to handle this one?
On a separate note, I hope you're all doing well and looking forward to Christmas. I hope you all know how much reading this forum and knowing there are other people in similar situations is a total godsend. I am so grateful to have this!
Take care all.

Nationwide sent two nice visitors to my house, apparently they went yesterday.... I'm sure they can't send bailiffs until they've actually warned me or given me some kind of paperwork?!! 6 months into a DMP seems pretty early... maybe the 'out notice' they left was just some spotty teenager handing them out with his paper round....
It's not been sent to their in-house DCA yet either...
Please advise.......

I've been wondering about this! Hopefully they'll just allow it to carry on! But not sure.
Halifax are still charging me 1% interest which works out about 50% of my payment so hopefully this won't be a problem for me for a while!
Will be interested to see what the answer is tho!
(Sorry no use at all)
Hi Londonfraggle
how ridiculous is that situation with your store card!! At the risk of sounding like them, could you maybe pay twice the amount one month?! coz surely you have only technically missed one month and the others have been on time but just carrying over the one missed payment (did that make sense?)
Charliesangel,
Just ignore it, because you're right, without being informed and court, bailiffs have no right to do anything! it was probably just bunging a card through to the door to freak you out and get you to phone up! We had one a while back but it didn't even have our names on ('to the occupier') so we ignored it! and never heard again!
I had a phonecall from Halifax last night! What a waste of both of our time that was! i still don't even know why they phoned!
he said something about me having missed one of my agreed payments and therefore my account has been passed over to collections!
So I said 'I haven't missed any'. he kept going quiet to look for details which he really should have had ready! I don't think he had a clue what he was doing! Anyway when he looked into it it was FEBRUARY when the missed payment was! !!!!!!???? So I said 'and since then I haven't missed any right?' 'No' 'So why exactly are you phoning me, and why are you talking about feb now? that was before you accepted the payplan agreement!!'
He said 'just to inform you, I'll put a note on and you sholdn't have a call again' What a waste of time!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finished my xmas shopping yesterday!! yay! But also bought tickets for pearl jam at hard rock calling which because of stupid unreasonable charges were pretty expensive! Obviously this had to come out of money saved for xmas! And as it was only yesterday and I only transfered money from savings over this week, not everything in my account is up to date and I have no idea how much money I actualy have! Eek!! Fingers crossed my (rough) sums were right and I've got enough money for the month!DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 261Debt at start of DMP (Jan 2009) = 46,147.86 Now = 36,826.98DFD = [STRIKE]Jan 2014[/STRIKE] May 2013 ([strike]60[/strike] [STRIKE]52[/STRIKE] 41 payments to go)NSD:Nov 12/12:jDec 9/10 Jan 5/10Slowly but surely:coffee:0 -

Hiya - yes I think that's probably the best solution - if I make one extra payment now then in theory I will from now on actually be paying them in advance of my statement date - I think??? My head is a bit twirly with all of this now! I'm just so angry that they can be so pig headed when they are making more out of me now than ever before. Hurumph!!
Thank you for the suggestion though - I think that should work (anyone think otherwise - if so please tell me!)
