  • Great news LMS! You are on a roll now.:j

Im just going to check now if any other creditors got our notification letters, so far 4 out of 13 received them, the CCCS got our pack back last Friday so that should be being processed. We have already had 1 phone call from Black Horse Loan to say they hadnt heard from the CCCS yet and are we sure we sent everything to them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The rest of us will be doing lots of  and lots of :j:j
    soon!

I think normally CCCS are really quick, but they are majorly busy - so things are taking longer than usual. Some of my creditors have received their offers, others haven't - even though they were all sent at once. Sometimes mail takes a while to trickle through to the right department also. Tell Black Horse they can wait -

I'm about to head off for an early night. My oldest daughter who's 6 was sent home from school this afternoon - suspected swine flu. My poor baby  She isn't majorly ill with it, it's just starting. She had a temp, sore head, sore back, upset tummy etc. Put her to bed with some calpol so hoping she'll get a good rest. Chances are she'll be up during the night though so early to bed for me. GP coming out tomorrow. Joy! Like we don't have enough going on!

Oh, I'm in it for the long haul too, My DMP is currently estimated at 17 years. How it thrills me :rotfl:

Have a good night everyone xxx
I'm 26, been with my OH for 8 years - we have 3 beautiful daughters and no debt collector can ever touch our family.

Hi, hope the little one is OK. Last thing you need when going through this. I had a bad day yesterday, took the dog for a long walk and felt much better but your mini crisis puts things into perspective....all the best!
  • Thanks, I read the letter like a million times and I notice it says when they review it in May "It will be a necesarry requirement that the payments are increased to clear arrears over a period of time" So now I'm thinking they are only accepting until May then they'll hike the payments up. I'm not gonna stress over it though, it's maybe just their way of wording things. Chances are in May I will send them an Income/Expenditure thing (unlikely to have changed much from now) and hopefully they will accept for another 6 months. Fingers crossed anyway.....I notice they have agreed not to default me, so maybe in 6months whenI still can't meet normal payments they'll do it then. I dunno, far too many maybes :rotfl:

I have £100 per month that I will be freeing up in 6 months time (when mortagage arrears are cleared) I had hoped to put this toward the DMP but chances are before then interest rates will have gone back up and our mortgage payments will increase so it may not be £100 as I hoped. But again, it's one of those things you worry about if it comes to it I suppose. It just seems inevitable the interest rates will go up at some point.

It was only two weeks ago I sent all my paperwork, so for you guys that are just starting now, you'll see changes soon! I started to get a good few calls (havem't answered any) but so far no letters saying no, and even just the two saying yes has been a huge relief to me.

I don't have the worry of charging orders like you do Dory, as I live in Scotland, and they don't exist here. I feel for you on that, I have read up on them and I would be petrified of that. :o

When May arrives and they see that you have paid what you offered them religiously every month and that your circumstances have not changed in that you are still not a £64million euro lottery winner, they will make another plan with you, maybe only 6 months or maybe a year, but if you stay on track with them, do your six monthly reviews about what has gone up or down to give them less/more money they will continue to play ball with you on good terms.

    Good luck JOJ

Hope your daughter will have a good night's sleep so you can too and that she makes a speedy recovery. It is much much harder to cope with things with no sleep. :(
My mum's having her cancerous tumour taken out in the morning, I havent slept much since I heard last week, I am pretty much running on adrenalin at the mo. So if Black Horse or anyone else decides to call me tomorrow I will not be held responsible for what I say! :p
We also are at 17 years 9 months....joy!

Imeptus, I just replied, thank you for your message, it's just that Im not sure mine went back to you because it didnt tell me 'message sent' or anything.
Have a good night's sleep everyone, tomorrow is another day, let's be ready for 'em!!

  • Hi Everyone

I feel as though I know everyone because I have been reading the posts on here for a couple of months now.

Story begins a few years back when i left uni - had NO debt as paid everything off even managed to pay for a 5 week trip to the US/Canada whilst in uni! anyway got a decent job with the government and me and OH bought a house before the house market went sky high back in 2002 (i was 22 at the time) anyhoo many years later having a great credit score, being accepted for credit cards etc and even so much as 2 years ago we were managing ok. Then since about last xmas its got worse and worse we were basically struggling to pay everything and had zilch at the end of the month or sometimes having to take money out on our CC's to get us by!

Arguments prevailed in our house so one day we said right lets sit down and be honest with each other and our spending - tough for the pair of us as we are both good at spending! We did that over a few nights, and came up with our total EEK it was 42k built up from
    • 2 Lloyds CC's
    • 1 Lloyds Overdraft @ 3500
    • 2 Virgin Cards
    • 1 Post office card
    • 1 NR loan
    • 1 store card with dorothy perkins
    Estimated DFD is November 2015
However i actually felt relieved for talking about it.

We were paying the min payments but nothing was ever decreasing and cos we were doing that then we had no money in the account to live!

We (the we part hadnt happened for a while as it was normally me who was doing it!) visited the bank 1st to see what they could do and they said 'we can help OH but not you', fantastic eh! he was a right clever t****r lol.

So we decided to go through the DMP route.

I have had so many emotions, fears, depressed, worried etc and OH kept saying look they robbing bar stewards (as he refers to Lloyds) have been making an fortune out of us!

I have changed bank accounts, my wage went into Lloyds to cover those DD's that wont change over until mid nov and OH's went into the other, so by the end of November everything will be in the right place (hopefully).

We both stopped smoking 9 weeks ago which made us think 'how did we afford to smoke!?' cos we used to out them on CC's!.

I had been more savvy with food shopping, before i would just dive into the supermarket and spend, whereas now i may visit one or 2 or even 3 places to shop and have managed to stick to a budget. Also been paying more attention to where i get my petrol from as i drive 400miles a week to work!

I have caller ID on the landline so we dont answer the phone to those numbers you dont recognise - or take the number and dial it back to see who it is.

Only thing is that am worried about is getting a new mortgage, our fixed rate ended in July so on Halifax svr at the mo. BUT i have a good mortgage broker who knows that we have embarked on a DMP (sounds like a journey!, which it is i suppose!) so he will help

Another reason for doing this is I will be 30 in January :(and we have decided to start a family so we wanted to be more financially viable.

i havent told my parents as they would be devastated, they are wealthy due to working hard for years and years and i was always taught to save etc. I think i would be too proud to tell them. Told my sister, she has her own debts but always goes to the bank of mam and dad. My boss at work knows and is very understanding and so does a couple of my work friends. OH's parents dont know as they have the similar mindset to mine, and his mam works in Lloyds!!

I know its going to be tough but am ready for it as is OH.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has posted the advice i have read as its been really helpful and i know that i am going to need everyone when the calls start and i receive letters through the post that i dont understand etc

Lets hope she is better soon. My son had swine flu confirmed back in July and after treatment of Tamiflu he was sick after the first tablet, but within hours he was back on his feet and back to normal. If it is offered, I would take it. My OH and I had it at the same time, although I was first diagnosed with a chest infection (wrongly) and once on Tamiflu my OH and I, also confirmed, were right as rain and just had a fun time hiding out in the house, watching movies and building lego as everyone thought we had the plague!!

  • Just a quick update. Good on all of you who are taking the plunge, I still read every couple of days with interest. Shame that the CCCS are so busy and first payments are starting so many months ahead. I started within two weeks of making the call so didnt have the worry about token payments etc, although I sympathise with the calls - the rotters!

Anyway, update on closed accounts. At last I have received a letter from Aqua (Halifax) to say that my account is closed. I rang Barclaycard who asked me why I was ringing as I no longer held an "open" account with them. The other two I rang and did the automated balance ring up thing only to be told (by an automatic woman whose name I will never know) that they didnt know who I was as they could not find a current account with a balance on it.... ha ha ha I will take it now that all my accounts are well and truly shut.

I have to also say that for the first time, like EVER, in my life I have opened a savings account. I think the lady at my bank who I used to see about problems with money (I never had to change my account so been there decades) nearly fell off her chair. She got up and gave me a big hug! ha ha it was a little surreal to say the least! I only have £70 in there, but next week it will be 3 figures as I trip it over £100. I cant wait to see it and I have never had the pleasure of saving and at nearly 40 years old - I have it. YIPPEEEE

All my best wishes to everyone, keep going, keep up the fight and stay well

    JOJ xx

  • Hi, New to CCCS. Clicked to go ahead with the DMP, waiting for welcome pack. HOPEFULLY this week.
How long has it took someone form sending welcome pack to make their first payment and creditors getting paid ?
someone said, you pay 1st and creditors get paid around 25th....long time before getting paid. BUT I pay my creditors 1st of the month, so they will be paid 25 days late...
I guess they will all get letters about my DMP, so if i get told when they will get paid, do i pay a goodwill payment and if so, what do i offer ?
How long has anyone been in their DMP and has it made your life more relaxing and tressfree ?
    thank you

    Hullo!

Generally if the money leaves your account on the 1st, it takes a few days to get to the DMP company, then a few more days to hit your creditors. So it doesn't take that long, but it may take 5-10 days.

In the meantime, and until the DMP is setup, send token payments of £1-£2 to show that you're still willing to pay something, rather than just run away.
