Hi tooth fairy, just starting out and I check on Justabank every day to see what has been accepted. Nothing to date but can't wait to see the first and then there is light at the end of an extremely dark tunnel. I have eleven creditors and am £71,000 in debt so it could be a long slog!

Is there a long slog club I can join?

Hi impetus, if there is a long slog club I am right behind you on that one, we have 13 creditors so I have the same feeling
I'm on the long haul club, that could be the next best thing, But Im staying here until the DMP starts and all creditors have responded favourably LOL
It's safe here ;), have visited other threads and escaped sharpish as would have bee eaten alive there, ruthless they are! LOL
    Total Debt : £61,302.84

  • Has anyone tried Musicmagpie.co.uk for selling on their old CDs and DVDs?
You just log on, put in the code of the disc or dvd and they offer you cash. We used it last month when we were broke and made a tidy profit. They send you pre paid sticker(s) for your parcels as well, so all you do is to is take the box or parcel to the post office.
Downsides are, it can take about 3 weeks from start to finish and very common CDs only get a small amount (30p for Robbie!)
Good bits are, my OH is really into Jazz, etc, so some of the CDs he had already put on to his Ipod got £3.
I'm doing another delivery to them to help with Christmas, and they have been fair with me so far, touch wood.
If anyone is interested, log on, so at least you can see what price is on offer before you start. I decided I can't hold on to loads of CDs forever, they are dust collectors!
Would love to hear if anyone else has had a good experience and made some money, I did.

    Hi ya,

I'm thinking of getting rid of a load of jewellery, just investigating some of the cash for gold places/sites. It's stuff that I am not attached to, broken, glad to get rid of. A friend of mine recently took a few chains and bracelets and got £325 cash in hand! (this was to a stall in our local shopping centre)
The downside for me is that they dont take watches and items with stones and a few of mine have stones in them. :(

I used Magpie, they're fine, but bare in mind, the ones they offer £3 for, you could get a lot more for elsewhere. A couple of mine for example I know I can get £10 - £30 for.

    Other than that, they're fine!

    Seeking advice please...
I received my annual mortgage statement and review today and because of low interest rates my monthy payment is due to be reduced by £74 approx.
Obviously good news but it has upskittled me a bit. My gut feeling is to overide and continue paying at the higher rate to clear the mortgage sooner. At the moment there is 10 and a half years left which would be paid off when I am 65 (told you I was MUCH older than all you young things!!!) I would decrease the term as well as increasing the equity in my house (if the worse came to the worse and I had to sell) and freeing up more cash for my long term DMP further down the line.
My DMP is with CCCS (done online) and I will be due a 1st review fairly soon. If I overide and continue my mortgage D/D at the higher rate am I technicaly committing 'fraud' by not freeing up the money for the DMP?
See my signature re:low income-I live very frugally and can still only pay £76-00 monthly to creditors. My main fear is if I go for the lower revised mortgage payment and increase the DMP payments (would double it!) that interest rates will start to rise and next mortgage review I will have to dramatically increase payments again thereby 'robbing' the DMP and upsetting creditors at reducing payments (my income etc will not change much) and having to go through the whole sort of 'set up' process again. (And still feel 'My home is my castle' and that the money is better going there)
Apologies for the long post but grateful for your thoughts and replies.

65 Twit Head? Awwww, you are a baby...or perhaps a toddler then where the rest of us are babies LOL
I wish I could advise but I wouldnt really know what the best thing to do is. Maybe ask the CCCS counsellor on the other board or try another board....be careful though, they can be ruthless over there. I am interested though in what the advice is as we could be in the same situation a bit later.
Hope you get the answer soon.

A lady I worked with (no, not me, for a change!) sent off her gold to one of those TV advertising places. Her offer was £64. She went along to a local hotel and was offered over £250! It just shows everyone's experiences are different. It certainly sounds like it's better to go to local sales, fairs, etc.

Yep sounds like it, I agree, these places are sprouting up all over the place, I would prefer doing it on the spot rather than sending it. Then it's quicker to accept and decline.
THE ONLY THING I would advise would be to take someone with you for security, anyone could be watching :(just to be on the safe side.

Hi Ianmak, I know what you mean but we had LOADS to shift and we were so hard up at the time, I don't think we would have paid the postage up front to sell on EBay, as mean as that sounds. Frankly, I was glad to get rid of CDs that sounded like four people on a stage all playing in a different band.
    Sorry,OH x

Hi Northstar, you like you might be in it up to your neck like me....long haul it probably is then! There goes the phone again! Those nice people looking for their money again, don't you just love them?

Also want the DMP to get into action. I see most people on here are with CCCS and not Payplan - is there a difference? Keep in touch Northstar, looks like we might be on a similar path to redemption!:j

    All the best,

    All the best,

    impetus!

I will be here for support, hand holding, a shoulder, a rant,a rave, whatever is needed.
Yep, the phone calls are going to come in thick and fast, it is amazing how they can keep spouting the same information.
I just realised something........trying not to get panicky and short of breath......but because OH has a CCJ and we are due in court in Feb for the redetermination......the CCCS said that this particular debt cant be added to the DMP, so looking at my signature, the part where I put 6OK whatever.......I think it's supposed to read....depressingly.....74K. (it's our biggest debt :((
OMG.......I best change it.....then lets see what happens in Feb.......it would be better to change it as the debt goes down, very satisfying, I could use one of those line things to cross out the numbers LOL
