One approach to this is to talk to someone like National Debtline, for basic advice (but not for them to manage the DMP) - then in letters to the bank point out that you have taken advice from National Debtline. It's kind of a middle ground - shows you have looked for advice and that you are not just chancing it, without tying you into a company DMP.
Mine is self-managed and while it made one or two of them more difficult ro start with they all more or less settled down eventually.0 -
afternoon all
i am soooooooo fed up today!
have 36p in my purse & thats it till tues (pay day)
does make you think tho - how much i would just dump on the ole cc - like i've just popped into WH smiths to get a paper - i could have bought at least 10 books which would have gone on my cc - but walked out with just the paper & 36p change - couldn't even buy choc - as they are too flamin expensive!!!!!! :rotfl:
oh its quite funny really.
Also -creditor 'HASSLE' update - had 7 missed calls y/day from Cap 1 - when i soke with them - they were useless!! all the 'global' lady kept saying was: '' can you make a token payment today''
me: no
''can you make a payment today please''
me: no!!
& then she said i would have to call another number to stop the collections calls as they now know i'm on a dmp - i asked to transfer me & then she cut me off!!!
Also spoke with Lloyds - very nice - too nice??!!
so my new motto is 'answer the phone' - i can only be honest & it seems i know more than they do about defaults etc.
hilarious.:rotfl::rotfl:
oh - just to add my bit in about cccs & fibbing a bit - we haven't declared my husbands expenses - & this is cos they range from £50pm to £250pm - so some months it will be fab & others won't make a difference.
feel better now for offloading
hope everyone else is ok???
sasMassive !! LBM June 09 - Debts [STRIKE]£70k [/STRIKE] now £63k (PPI Claim succesfull)
will never ever ever get credit again (couldn't if i wanted!!!! - LOL - have to laugh, keeps me sane.

Hi
I am new to MSE and to the DMP support thread. We currently have a DMP with CCCS for two creditors, M&S Money (HSBC) and the dreaded LTSB.
Do you ever have a wobble and wish that you never went down the DMP route and just struggled on the way you were? I know that struggling on was impractical and the DMP was the best option for us, but it is normal to doubt yourselves sometimes isn't it?0 -

Oh crikey, yes, absolutely... I don't think many people go into a DMP unless there is another option. (And hoping to win the lottery is just not taking it seriously!) For me, I managed to build up so much debt that after all my essential items (mortgage, TV lic, electricity etc) and minimum payments on my debt had gone out, I was left with £80 per month for food, clothes, car, entertainment, emergencies etc and was finding it hard to get further credit to support myself..... so my DMP really was my saviour - I COULDN'T have carried on.
However I would point out that despite the ups and downs of 'DMP life' (am surprised MTV haven't made a docu-soap about one of us!), it is hugely better to have money for living costs including a small emergency fund, have my new bank account in the black and not worry about paying my debts anymore... I think back to how bad it was and life defintely has improved.
