I'm so worried about the speed of the Egg Debt increasing that I'm just not sleeping and am feeling constantly tearful and frightened.

Hi,
I didn't want to read and run but I don't know what you can do about Eggs interest and charges. You can't (as far as I know) force them to stop them, it is at the creditors discretion.I suppose it can't hurt to write another letter asking (again) that they freeze the charges, but whether it will work or not I don't know.
I'm having a bad debt day too. Despite the fact I sent off my notification of DMP letter to Northern Rock (perosnal loan) they hit me with a formal demand for payment for the full 13K this morning.Obviously I can't give them that, I'm hoping CCCS get my DMP up and running soon because the thought of court action is killing me. I sent my statements etc to CCCS last week, so I'm praying to get my welcome pack through soon. Does anyone know how long it takes CCCS to get in touch with your creditors? They seem to be ignoring me, so it's my only hope.
I'm also damn depressed by our bank statement. I was greeted today by the folowing:
20 Oct 2009Interest £120.00
20 Oct 2009Interest £30.00
20 Oct 2009Interest £20.00
20 Oct 2009Interest £25.03
Copied and pasted straight out my online statement. Interest for what!!! They do this every damn month it's no wonder I never have any money
Some days I feel so ready to beat debt, then days like today I just want to curl up and die!I'm 26, been with my OH for 8 years - we have 3 beautiful daughters and no debt collector can ever touch our family.LBM: 03/10/09 Unsecured Debts: 69K  DMP Start Date 01/11/2009.0 -

hey cloudy-day
don't get all tearful over this - i have the same with Egg - 4th month into DMP & they are still charging interest & late fees (8k debt)
BUT i have told myself i will give my DMP payments 6 months & then will write to them pleading they stop interest or would they pass to a DCA who will stop interest.
the thought of DCA 6 months ago would have sent me into a catatonic state but as my credit rating was shot to pieces the moment i entered into a DMP - what have i got to lose??
sorry if this sounds a bit blase - but sometimes its the only way i can deal with DS (debt stuff!!)
littlemiss skint - the interest charges are horrendous!!! won't be too nosey but do you have a £5k+ o/d?? i work for a bank and see nowhere near that amount of debit interest on accounts. i would query with your bank, check your old statemnts & see if it is roughly the same each month - should be if your balances average the same each month.
anyhoo - me too having a bad debt week - pay day & have totally miscalculated this month - so as of the 1st will have £71 to see us through until the 21st again!!! thats £3.55per day. wish us luck!! :rotfl:
sasMassive !! LBM June 09 - Debts [STRIKE]£70k [/STRIKE] now £63k (PPI Claim succesfull)
will never ever ever get credit again (couldn't if i wanted!!!! - LOL - have to laugh, keeps me sane.

Hi,
We have a 2K agreed overdraft. At the end of last month we were £1500 down. Usually the end of the month lies at £1800 down. This is the same we get hit with every month, One for over a hundred pounds, then 2 or 3 for 20/30/40 each. I have no idea what it is for. To add to that before we started to arrange our DMP we were also getting 2 or 3 x £30 charges per month for bounced DDs.I'm 26, been with my OH for 8 years - we have 3 beautiful daughters and no debt collector can ever touch our family.LBM: 03/10/09 Unsecured Debts: 69K  DMP Start Date 01/11/2009.0 -

Hi cloudy-day, sorry to hear that Egg are causing you so much stress. Unfortunately they really are one of the worst creditors to have, they don't even care about breaking the law & I've already had to report them to the Information Commissioner's Office on two separate occasions, they are real scum.
Firstly I would send a CCA request for both cards immediately (even if you already have copies yourself), that will show them you are serious & are not going to be bullied, each one will cost you £1 so it's well worth it.
Secondly, when you receive a copy of the credit agreement (and there is a high chance they do still have the agreements as Egg were one of the better firms for keeping them), check the agreement & see if it states CREDIT LIMIT or whether it just says Approved Limit.
The reason for this is that I know from another forum that a few people have been successful with it in court getting the agreement deemed unenforceable (personally I wouldn't under any circumstance go to court with that as the only argument you have). I also know people who have quoted this in a letter to Egg & have then cut off all payments to them & have never heard from Egg again. I believe there is going to be a test case in a high court in November regarding this Credit Limit issue with Egg, among a few other errors with their agreements.
Anyway, regardless of that it gives you some ammo to fire at them. Tell them you're not interested in getting the agreement deemed unenforceable however you are trying to reach an agreement with them to which they are not acknowledging, also tell them that every other creditor has accepted the terms of your DMP (include letters to prove that if you can) & tell them they are forcing you further into debt with their charges.
One other thing to look at is whether they are charging you the allowed £12 or are they still refusing to lower their charge from the £16. If they are still charging the £16 they you can start a reclaim against them & go through the Ombudsman (I'm in the middle of that at the moment). They'll lose & you will get the whole amount amount back.:j DMP mutual support thread member - 135:j0 -
Thanks all, I'm paying all I can afford so they're not going to get anymore, just the thought of Egg adding £500 EVERY month to my oustanding bill, with me only able to pay £109, is v v disheartening.
I will write to them again and request the CCA. Haven't done this before as everyone else has been great, and I will be paying it back.0 -

I am still being charged £16 (*2). Could you please explain what I have to do?
Sorry new to this!0 -

Yeah same here, thats why i thought id ask the question...Has anyone had success with f&f settlements, and if so, what percentage?....I have read on other threads that it is possible to have defaults removed when offering f&f settlements as part of the offer they must remove the default and basically settle the account as satisfied, not partly satisfied but fully satisfied...???

Hi PS
I am now debt clear and in July I started the process of offering f&f, initially on my own back (even though with Payplan) and then I took advice from them and they did everything for me.
I have to say I learnt a few things along the way whuch drastically changed my whole f&f plan. I originally offered 40% of the balances (all less than £1k in total) as it was dragging on a bit. 3 wrote back straight away asking for the financial details of the person offering the "gift" to settle, one never ever bothered to write at all and finally Lloyds rang (who I had a personal loan with) to say they were quite happy to take my offer and close the account, but it could not be closed fully satisfied as I was not offering the full amount. It kinda made sense so before I did anything else I did a bit of reading and rang the national debtline and sent a message to a CCCS counsellor on another thread to clarify this. They agreed that if you offer less than what the amount was you borrowed or owed (including all interest and charges) they could not legally close it as fully satisfied, becuase, bascially, it wasnt, it would only ever be "partially satisfied". This in turn, carries its own burden on your credit file as accounts closed will show this for 6 years from the day it goes on. I would be sceptical of any "deal" they offer you with regard to removing correctly applied defaults or adding fully satisfied.
In the end I asked for final balances and they were paid within a week through payplan and all balances are now £0. I have letters claiming "fully satsified" however I cannot get the credit cards to actually close the account.
This made me laugh, yesterday I get my statement from Aqua. Transactions this month £0.00. Balance £0.00. Minimum payment £0.00. Then a great big notice on the right of the statement telling me i had "FAILED TO MAKE THE MINIMUM PAYMENT THIS MONTH" I did laugh out loud. I have made 7 calls to them and written 2 letters and this account is still open. Apparently it can take 3 months to close an account, what do they think I am going to do - spend!?? err I dont think so.
Sorry, waffled on a bit there, but I know there is not much on here about f&f.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi- I have the same problem with Egg, they have accepted my DMP for the loan I have with them, but no acknowlegement on the cc, still adding interst at 21% apr as well as £16 late charges. I was goind to leave it another month and then start the begging! Thanks to Geoff for the advice about the agreements, as I have had the Egg card for a long time, it may be worth going down that route, if the don't start playing nicely:)
Also had a statement from Littlewoods today with about 4 separate late letters inclosed - they don't seem to have caught up with the DMP either, so I will have to write to remind them - no phone calls from them though which is something at least.
I depressed myself the other day by checking my balances on the statements against the CCCS balances, and they have all gone up execpt for one.:( Hopefully next month should see some progress on all except the evil Egg.) I keep telling myself that the DMP was the best thing to get out of the mess I'm in, although it can be hard to see that sometimes. Chins up everyone, it WILL get better.LBM July 2009DMP Start 1 September 2009DMP Support Number 3350 -
I have well and truly had enough of Reliable Collections
They keep harrassing me every month telling me Ive broken the plan due to when Kensington send payments - er, hello, not my fault!!! I got a demand letter for £0.00 from them the other day  and spoke to an obnoxious individual who acted like he ran the dam company  Wouldnt put me onto a supervisor as he said he was the 'account manager'
Upon which point I lost my rag with him and said I used to work for Capital One in the recoveries department, thats exactly what we were told to say and I wanted to speak to someone who wasnt him! There was a long silence - I could tell he wasnt used to people answering him back like that - sweet satisfaction :rotfl: And lo and behold I got a statement today and there was a charge on it!!!
So I rang and spoke to my contact at Kensington who wasnt too amused at their actions and said they shouldnt have done it and he was going to sort them out (last time I spoke to someone at Kensington about something like that - Natwest - despite the payment being sent at the same time every month ie after when Natwest wanted it - I havent heard a peep from them since so god knows what they're saying :rotfl:)*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -

Thanks for your comments, it does help that its not just me. I will ask for a CCA and at the same time ask (beg!) for the charges and interest to stop.
Feeling brighter today - I know that it just adds months/years on to my DFD but its hard to see the total jjust going up and up and up!0
