    Hi Muddlemess
You've been around for so long I just assumed you were already well into a DMP, so surprised to hear you're just starting out. Very good luck with it all, and Happy Birthday for today!!!

  • Happy Birthday Muddlemess!

I am sooo fed up with Natwest - honestly we are nearing a month when i first applied for my account, took 2 weeks to get an account number, a further week to get a pin number, a further half week to get a debit card - which takes 24 hours to activate?? And now today I finally recieve my internet banking activation code only to find out I cant make ANY online payments without a card reader - that can take up to 15 days!!!

I also find that they havent transfered any of my direct debits either! Just wonderful!! Now I have to use the phone to call them up and make payments - make a ton of apologising phone calls over failed direct debits and set up the D/D transfers myself. Lovely :) !

    Anyhoos

I did recieve a lovely letter from First Direct saying they accept my payment as per CCCS proposal until a review in OCt 2010 and interest will be charged at 0% over first directs base rate of 0.5% making an annual rate of 0%.

They are my biggest creditor at 16k.

So thats great news :) Hope the others will be as easy! one can hope!

munkie - that just shows how big a bunch of liars First Direct are!!! They told me the 6% above base rate was a preferential interest rate and they don't stop interest on DMP debts!!!

I only owed them £7.5k - less now!!!

I was already on a repayment arrangment with First Direct. Last year I arranged to up my payments from £425 to £520 to pay it off in three years- good times ha - and on that they tried to up the rate to 6% but sods laws--- my work started us on a short week to get over a rough patch and my payments went down to £280.00 instead and on this i was paying 0.5% I think - around £20 on £16k debt.

I think its a case of them humping up the interest when you are going to pay it off quicker - is that a case for you? My payment is now £96. How does your debt and payment compare?

Yeah that may be it. But I've recently lowered my payments - their payment only reduces by about £3 though

They get just over £115 from me and the current balance is just over £5k now.
