    Hi all
A quick update on my DMP. It will now be starting in October (which is good for a bit of breathing space) and I have received my first letter from a creditor, Santander, accepting the reduced payments.

It says in the letter that "the concessionary arrangement is for a temporary period only and interest charges, where applicable, will be suspended for the duration of this agreement."

Could anyone translate this for me please? Obviously interest has been frozen, but I'm wondering how temporary they actually mean their co-operation will be.

They have also requested I return my cut up card to them, but it has gone through the shredder along with all the rest!

So, good news to start my DMP, and I'm feeling much more positive again :)

It means it is a temporary agreement, and they will review it again in anything from 1 to however many months. That doesn't mean they will change their mind, just that they will probably review the arrangement on a semi-regular basis.

  • Hi all, well i'm just about to go to post my CCCS paperwork back to them! Just been waiting for my direct debits to be changed over and that happened last week! Hope I've remembered everything.
No calls except from M&S who seem to be calling nearly hourly but no ring on my phone so only know when I check the register! Obviously they can't read my letter asking them not to call, !!!!!
Heard from a few people saying we are sorry to hear of you current financial difficulties bla bla bla!
Not sure where I stand with egg though they sent me a letter with big bold print at the top YOUR ACCOUNT IS IN ARREARS which was visable through the envelope window just above my name and address - really embarassing!!! Is that not in breach of my confidentiality  silly Grrrr!
Slimming World Newby 75.5lbs for starters, another 75lbs after that! :(

Does anyone have an address to send my token payment to Tesco credit card?? Can't see to find one??

GPUK, don't know if you found the answer to your question but Tesco's address is -

    Tesco Personal Finance,
    Cards Customer Services,
    PO Box 5747,
    Southend-on-Sea,
    SS1 9AJ

I've been a bit stupid with this postal orders/token payments thing. This is probably really obvious but I didn't think to write down on the receipts which postal order went to which address, as I forgot they had reference numbers. Now I've had my statement from Post Office credit cards and found their token payment didn't reach them! I checked the recorded tracking number and it's still progressing through the sytem, a month later, urgh. Nearly all of the others have got to their destinations, I just have M & S's statement to come so I can check. So it's going to be a bit of a convoluted process to claim it back, as I don't know which one's got lost. I also didn't ask for them to be crossed, which apparently might make it even harder. Oh well, you learn, and maybe this might help someone else!

I'm going to send a replacement PO off, with a letter explaining about the first going missing. This should be OK? It's not like it's an extra payment just a replacement for the lost one.

Nothing much to report. My first payment went to Payplan without any hiccups, no phone calls at all, Mint have written acknowledging my situation now and said a default was going to follow, so that's two down (also this was one of the highest interest cards, so good). Also they set out my up to date balance and account info in the letter saying I needed to pass this information on to Payplan. I know Payplan are contacting everyone anyway to get balances etc, so do I need to send this to them or just keep it for my records?

    Hi all,

Well I've messed up again this month! I'm really sick of it coz i just don't (didn't) get where it's been going wrong! I'm just not good at this budgeting lark!

I'm finding it the same as Bigmommamuppet, Daffykjs, and others, I know exactly what you mean! It doesn't matter sometimes how hard you budget, and check prices (I use the Tesco and Sainsburys online shopping sites to compare prices before I go shopping), cut back, take up offers, things still seem to go askew whiff. I'm writing down everything too. It takes more work as you have to go to several different places instead of just buying everything in one go, to get the best deals, but I'm quite good at it now, and also making canny use of loyalty points and things (managing on vouchers for the end of last month for food when the money ran out!). Messed up with the water bill too, can't seem to do adding up!

The hardest thing already is going to be going out (or not as the case may be). Sometimes I'll just have to say no. It's so hard to relax when you're out as you're just thinking about how much things are costing all the time. It's one thing if the food budget doesn't work out and I'll just live on beans and soup for a week (or longer!) but trickier with socialising. I'm sure I'll find a way round it in time. This is my second full credit-free month though and overall I feel the better for it.

On the good news front, I thought I'd check what was left in my poor battered ISA account before I close it, working it out to be about three pounds, and found I have a hundred and eighty quid in there! That's going in the "spares" account!

  • Good start to the weekend,I got some overtime today.Hope I can stash it away towards Christmas. The good mood didn't last.Came home to a letter from Capital 1.(I have two credit cards with them)My bank has only paid the agreed direct debit payment to one account.I should have checked.

Also a letter from National debt recovery Ltd (Marshall Ward catalogue account) completely blanking the 2nd DMP SOA I sent them demanding a larger payment.:mad:I had phoned them before & was told that they can't deal with a DMP unless it's through an official debt charity/agent.I told them all my other creditors (some of them owed thousands not £200 like Marshall Ward:eek:)have accepted a self managed DMP.I was told that is their policy.I asked if I could have that in writing & was told no,it's policy but won't put it in writing.

Hi Everyone, I did find an address for Tesco in the end - it said on the back of the statement ....please enclose cheque in envelope provided but up until now I have been having my statements by email so didn't actually have an envelope!!!

YP I didn't think to check which postal order went to which company either?!? Can you track if they have been cashed then?? Didn't even know you could :)

I received come more paperwork from PayPlan on friday, a budget sheet to sign and send back and a form asking if I wanted any insurance (has anyone done this)? and also the standing order mandate for the bank........only problem is do you think Halifax will freak out when I had this in because then they will know i'm going on a DMP and I didn't really want them to know!! Also PayPlans bank is RBS which is one of my creditors....so will I be inadvertantly be giving them my 'safe' account details. Wondering if I should open a co-op account now instead and spend a few more hours transferring everything over AGAIN! Didn't realise you could use the post office to withdraw/pay in!

Anyway still thinking positive Egg are still calling me about 4 times a day but mobile is constantly on silent so just clear the reg of their calls at the end of the day :)
    Goal weight....lighter than when I started :D

    Hi Scouselad

it is indeedy possible to open a savings account... and if you have a STEP or Cashminder basic current account you can almost always ask to have one linked to it.. this is what i have for the 'emergencies', birthdays and car maintainance budget...

There aren't usually credit checks for more common savings accounts, but if it's a more complicated one they may run checks.. but you should be safe :T

    hope this helps...
