  • Hi guys, sorry if i shouldn't post this in here but desperate for some advice. Myself and my hubby are about 99% certain that we will have to go the DMP route asap. The only probs we have is that DH is self employed (sole trader) and he has lots of store acxcounts that he uses for work and needs, however they are always paid in full every month. The debt we have is with CC and loans only, so my question is really, if we start a DMP will it have any affect on DH and his business or because his accounts are already open and up to date will he still be able to use them?

Also, I start uni in 2 weeks and hopefully will receive quite a large bursary and a student loan. What will happen to these if i get them with regard to the DMP? Will I have to declare it and use it to pay off the debt?

Also who is the best and cheapest or free company to go to for a DMP?

    Thankyou
  • Hi all just popped on to say 'I'm still here' ;)

Started back at work and feel all deaded with the few extra hours, so haven't bothered with the laptop lately (tut tut!) I hope all is well with you all? xxx

I too am on the naughty step for over spending for new uniform, shoes, a new work shirt for me etc and realising I hadn't enough in my account to cover the house insurance direct debit  I had £6 left in my account :eek::eek:

I am ok cause my tax credits came in a few days later but I will be hit with a charge I think. I haven't told OH yet cause he will moan about being silly with money and over spending, you know the usual 'you think we are richer than what we are' blah blah talk!. I haven't checked the bank either but I know the 'you have missed this months payment' letter will be sent soon.

I feel so stupid, I felt I was on top of budgeting for bills setting up direct debits. My house insurance will be ok but I know I will have a £20 charge from the bank grrr!! Must really try harder...........

    I am not rich yet
    I am not rich yet
    I am not rich yet..........:o

If OH finds out my excuse will be 'I'm still looking out for one of those special '20p's, maybe that's why I keep spending hoping I'll get one in my change' :D

    Hi TP, how you doin?

cheerypie, can't help on the self employed side of things, but the two freebie DMP companies are PayPlan and CCCS, and both are the same, only different in how they distribute payments to creditors. Either should be able to help with your issue.

Nymph - the best bank to go for is Co-Operative, and their cashminder account. Not ideal for some though as they seem to have limited branches (I have one 3 miles away, and one I can use in London).

  • Hi All, Just catching up with how you are all doing. I almost feel like an intruder posting here now, am I still allowed?? I always read with interest the tactics new and old that creditors use and how well equipped everyone is by sharing their stories here.

    Keep going

And we can ask advice off of you (if you don't mind of course) and you can tell us your DMP stories and experiences, you could be a Yoda of the DMP World!

Sorry, my mind drifts off occasionally....

  • Hi Guys

Thanks for your advice regarding Monument, I have wrote to other MDS previousley which has helped with other accounts I hold, but I can't seem to find the name of the MD of Compucredit in the Uk.
I totally understand that they have no obligation to accept a reduced payment as I have broken the agreement that I signed , but I would of thought that they could at least reply to a customer who is trying their best to pay back what he owes on a very small debt, rather than letting it increase by £24 a month plus interest.
The charges are £12 late payment fee and £12 over limit fee.
    The uphill battle continues
Selling to a DCA sounds like a good option

    Hi again Scouselad.

Those charges would be deemed fair so you have little chance of fighting those at present, which is most annoying.

You could phone Compucredit UK & ask for the name of the MD or CEO (if you do that don't give them any info or tell them why you want him). If you don't fancy doing that just address the letter to the Managing Director & mark it Private & Confidential, which should then at least get to his/her PA etc.

Write to this address if you haven't already:-

    Witan Gate House
    500-600 Witan Gate West
    Milton Keynes
    MK9 1SH

Also send a copy of the letter & your complaint to R. Raphael & Sons PLC who issue the Monument visa credit card at this address:-

    Albany Court Yard
    47 – 48 Piccadilly
    London
    W1J OLR

At least by writing to as many people as possible it shows just how desperate you are to reach a suitable agreement. Hope some of this helps.

    Geoff.

You can pay cash in and withdraw cash at any post office though ;)

It's just if anyone gives you a cheque that you would have to post it to them or get to the branch
