  • Hi Everyone,
It would be great if someone could give me some reassurance. I'm the 1st month into my DMP with Payplan. They seem great have been really helpful, but I'm worried, 2 of my creditors haven't been paid yet, I wrote to ask what was happening & got a reply to say that some creditors are paid by cheque, this is Vanquis & Barclaycard. This is why it takes longer, has anyone else had this with Payplan?

Also, HSBC has rung me today to say they know I'm going through Payplan & they've received that payment but they haven't recieved any correspondence from Payplan as yet about any payment offers! Hopefully these are just teething problems that will be ironed put quickly, but it's made me really worried, has anyone else had any problems similar? What did you do?

    Any advice much appreciated, thanks

Hi all haven't posted for a long time, but I've been reading... Congrats JOJ!

Just thought you may like to know I've just been onto Lloyds TSB website and they actually have a link to CCCS!!

Couldn't beleive it after reading all your posts about them not being very helpful with interest etc!!!

Hope they are changing as they are one of my main creditors and should be getting notice of my DMP very soon.

    Hope you are all well

You will find that Payplan will have a contact looking after your file at each creditor place. It does appear that most creditors dont know which department is doing what so your name and number on a computer will not be updated enough and you will still get calls and they "pretend" they havent had any paperwork. I would very much doubt that Payplan havent sent anything at all, most is done electronically. The person calling you has to count up so many calls in a day and get the cash in the bank. They will tell you anything to frighten you into paying them something extra. Email your case officer at Payplan, get yourself on Justabank (if not done already) and it will tell you the status of each payment every momth as OK or otherwise. You will then know what they have had and when. It does settle, honest.

I had two creditors taking 22 days average to bank my payplan money to my account, accruing late payment fees. I complained and then asked them to change my statement date. When i proved it left me on the 1st of each month and left payplan around the 5th - 7th they could not argue after that. Best done in writing and I dont think they give your payments from payplan priority administration time over those direct from customers, although I cant be sure on that.

    Good luck

  • Hi Everyone

I hope you are all well.
Does anyone have Dell Finanacial as a creditor on their DMP ?
I have two small accounts with them and cannot get them to acknowladge any of my letters including a change of address, they continue to send mail to my old address and continue to say I have not contacted them, even though I have proof of receipt and they have even cashed a cheque sent to them.
I don't know what to do next, their office is in Southern Ireland and every letter sent costs around £6

  • Hello all,

I'm new here and am just writing to see if anyone could give me any advice on my current situation.

I have debt spread over 4 credit cards and am looking into a DMP with a company that would cost me £52 a month. They say that they have an 80% chance of getting the interest frozen.

I would be interested to know what you think about DMP companies and the £52 a month fee. Is it reasonable? I found the company via a google search, is there a need to be careful in dealing with such companies? And is it fairly easy to do a DMP yourself.

I'm not a UK resident so CCCS is out of the question.

Finally, I would like to make a F&F settlement at somepoint. Does being in a DMP stop you from making a F&F settlement?

    Many thanks!

Not sure on fees, but have you tried PayPlan, or if not them, the National Debt Line maybe able to recommend a solution? http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/

Also, F&Fs are doable while on a DMP, however they are frowned upon if you only offered a F&F to one creditor, as it's viewed as preferential treatment towards one particular creditor. A DMP has to be fair and equal to all, if that makes sense. However, there's nothing to stop you from offering F&Fs to all at the same time?

  • Morning All,

(Checks) Yes it is still morning and a glorious one at that!

Yes F&Fs are possible, but just be aware if you offer them a percentage less than the balance (which if a huge balance are quite likely to accept) you may put your credit further at risk as the accounts will only be partially settled and will reflect on your credit for 6 years after when you are all sorted out.

  • Hello all, hope everyone is having a good weekend. Been a bit intense this week as I'm starting to get more phone calls, some at work, once at home at eight in the morning!, but have ended up speaking to MBNA and both the Visa card and normal account (ie, overdraft) divisions of HSBC and none of it was too bad. MBNA (Alliance & Leicester for me) seemed to be calling all the way from India and offered me an "arrangement" but I stuck to saying that I was going through National Debtline and they then hung up! They are also being particularly thick and insisting on still sending statements etc to my old address even though I've told them twice about it by letter (post is redirected only through the kindness of my ex-neighbour). HSBC both times were quite laid back, the normal accounts division amazingly so (won't last I don't think) and even asked at the end if there were "any more products" they could interest me in!!! Yes, a whacking great loan please!

Egg are bombarding me with those stupid automated calls, including three times yesterday and once this morning, which I'm just ignoring. I received a letter from them in the week acknowledging my situation and almost by being quite helpful outlining how to go about offering pro-rata payments. Ready to send out token payments when my pay comes through and waiting to see what this week brings.

Also, what happens next with a DMP application? I've have confirmation from NDL that my application has gone to Payplan, will I be asked for any paperwork by PP, like wage slips and things?

  • hi Yellowpinky,
I've gone through Payplan for my DMP, they've been great, everything was done over the phone, I haven't had to send them any proof of my earnings or bank statements. I gave them the balances of my creditors & account numbers & that was it! They advised me to open a 'safe' bank account not associated with any of my creditors, my salary was paid into that account so wasn't swallowed up by my overdraft.
Phone call wise, I have spoken to all my creditors when they called I was just firm & said I was setting up a DMP with Payplan, so far everyone hasn't been too bad & I've had very few calls.
    Good luck

A beautiful day indeed and have you got the champagne bubbles out of your bloodstream yet???

So pleased for you. Am just at the start of my very, very, very long DMP (debts big enough but on low NHS income) so it looks like it will be a long journey for me.

It so true as you said about credit not being your own money and brings it all home - we all are here because we've had our lightbulb moment, and it's great there is much support for each other.

Enjoy the credit free future, let's hope it is someone else turn soon!
