Hi Rachaelfleur
There are quite a few people on this thread who have successfully claimed back unfair bank charges even though they are part of their DMPs. The only thing is, the bank will probably just take any amount due off your debt rather than pay it direct to you but at least your DMP would finish earlier I guess.:D
I am going to try claiming mine back from HSBC sometime soon (when I eventually get round to it) They have been a right royal pain in the butt anyway so they can't get much worse! I don't remember anyone else saying that it has changed the way their creditors treated them so it should be fine.

Hiya,
I've been reclaiming charges etc recently and it hasn't changed my creditors stance on anything! They are all still accepting the DMP.
Bank charges are unlawful and a complete con, so reclaiming them is a must!

Hi All,
Yes you definitely can claim charges back whilst on a DMP, but it will be reduced from the debt. I claimed back ovr £3k from MBNA after a rather large fight, but it brought my balance to an appropriate level as they were one of the creditors still charging whopping interest rates, over limit fees and late fees (for some reason it was taking 26 days for my payplan money to go from my account to hit theirs - not right!! Although funny enough after I complained it magically changed).
Anyway, just wanted to update you all that I PAID MY LAST PAYMENT TODAY!!! Just waiting for the confirmation of £0 balances and out comes that champagne. Payplan have been great on their settlements team and as I have paid them another months money on 1st August I will receive a fat cheque in 2 weeks getting it back!! WHOOP WHOOP YIPPEEEE
There is light at the end of the tunnel. Dont lose hope and remember why you had your lightbulb moment. DMPs work. Credit is not your money, you spend it, you have to give it back. Its worth it just to feel like I do today.
Thank you all

Finally hit the big 30 yesterday...but since my I started my DMP 3 months ago I finally feel as though I'm in control and most of the people I owe money to have been fine...I can now sleep again and I wish I started it earlier!
Saying that I'm going to have a go at reclaiming my credit card charges from both Barclaycard and Halifax just because there being a pain in the !!!! considering there the lowest balances I actually owe to people and they phone on a regular basis. Anyone had any success with these two?
Any how roll on Tuesday night for the gig of the year..Pearl Jam at Shepherds Bush:T0 -
at_my_wittsend wrote: »Did a budget review today with CCCS. Am now grrrrrr. When I first set it up last Sept, they told me I could have £20 for school trips a month, £6 newspapers etc. Today I have been told the most I can have for school trips is £10!!! And £5 for newspapers, and it seemed that everything else I had they said nope you have to have this and it was lots less. Even told me one thing I had I could no longer, they gave me it last time! So this has nicely pushed up the amount I can pay back, however, I was just managing as I was :-( My kids both doing swimming at school once a week at a cost of £1.30 each! Then every week they bring letters home needing a £1 for this that and the other or £3.00 if its something special coming into school. I told the women this but she said tough basically. I am disillusioned with the whole thing now, because it appears to me that once you start the plan they want to cut back and bump up the payments. I would have preferred a hike of £20 a month, not over £60! Also the way she worked the income out, x it by 12 and dividing. I don't get that figure in my account every month she came up with. Was thinking of going it alone and was using the update to then jump ship. Wish I had never done an update with them and jumped ship and done it myself. I can't now for 6 months go back and say I earn less etc. Am feeling slightly miffed to be honest. I want to pay all back I owe but at an affordable rate. I didn't have this problem when I first joined ??? Why are figures your allowed for clothes etc going down?? Also, never realised if you had big things to pay out for like car repairs etc you are supposed to inform them and they tell you creditors you can only make smaller payments that month etc. Sorry for the moan but I think in their eyes from what was said DMP's are to run no more than 10 years my new payments bring me under that. To be honest the women I had must have had PMT as I didnt find her as pleasant as people I have dealt with in the past. x
TO be honest it seems very very odd- the whole idea of the DMP is that you have enough to live on, not that you have to go back to where you were which is going without necessities.
There is a recent govt paper out
http://www.minimumincomestandard.org/
I suspect what CCCS are doing (not very well) is trying to show your creditors you are making some effort to get debts paid off but if your circumstances haven't altered and you can only afford a little more then in my view thats all you should have to pay.
I would be firm with them- explain they are not a creditor and you expect them to present your case in an honest way but without succumbing to pressure from creditors to eat into essential spending.now debt free and determined to maintain good spending habits and build savings0
