I've used Airport lounges at Manchester and Heathrow on many occasions, it gets you away from all the noise of the terminals, you get free drinks and snacks and nice comfy chairs to relax in, and the receptionist will inform you when the flight is boarding. All in all a good experience, but I don't think theres much to amuse children in the lounges though.

most lounges dont accept children under 12, it might be worth checking.
I agree the kids might be bored.

I get 'free' access to airport lounges by paying a £12/month bank fee (lots of other benefits too - I well make my money back) anyway have used Gatwick, Heathrow and Manchester - the London ones are not as good but at Manchester you can make toast, salty snacks, muffins, biscuits and cakes plus tea, coffe and OJ and of course - don't forget the free bar - you just have to pay extra for champagne. I highly recommend them as a little oasis of calm BUT some don't take children under 12 - I believe manchester has a family lounge but it books up really quickly
    Hope that helps

    Definitely recommended.

I always use the lounge at Manchester when I fly. By the time you've paid for a snack in the main airport lounge, you're halfway there anyway.

It is a lovely way to start the holiday. Calm and quiet, free newspapers and internet access, and snacks and drinks. The receptionist tells you when to go for your flight. And if your flight is delayed, you at least wait in comfort.

I have been in one of these lounges and yes they are good. I think they are def worth the money.

But the one we went it was the business class lounge with BMI.
We went to Warsaw and my dad got flight business class for £70 off QXl back in 2000/2001 A real bargin!!!!!!

We have used the lounges at Heathrow and Gatwick. Definately worth the money. When you think how much a coffee or something even stronger costs you get these included in the price of the lounge, so if you have a couple of drinks plus some snacks you soon make up the money. And the loos are much better and not crowded.
No Matter what you do there will be critics.
