nobody really ever feels that they 'should' be depressed, but it happens. You've also just had a baby - a classic time for depression to strike when the chemicals in your body are swirling around.

Please see your GP or at least keep talking to your friends about how you feel if you can't bring yourself to go.

I was very scared to start taking anti-depressants. I wondered if I would end up acting even more strangely than I already was, would I be drowsy all the time, would I be seen as 'mad' and I felt midly ashamed. I didn't feel any differently on a day to day basis - I still functioned but the problem is they take 3-4 weeks to start working.

Postnatal depression is pretty common. How depression affects you will be unique to you. Neither your HV or GP are going to go "Shock! Horror!" () when you talk to them.

    But I'm superhuman and don't 'do' weakness:p

(I'm guessing the fact that I can laugh at myself a little means I'm not a totally lost cause? In fact who needs HV/GP - I'll just log on here everyday as you lot never fail to lift me :kisses3:)

I also apologise for rattling on.

Ah...we're not getting into that... :naughty: If we had to apologise for rattling on, every other post of mine would be apologising for the one previous to it.

This is a forum to say what we want in the quantities we want to - so let's do it...

That's exactly what depression is all about Luc-and it's so hard when you're 'normally' a happy person.

You're doing a brilliant job with little man and hormones are evil horrible things. I know how hard it is to admit, I felt exactly the same but recognising it and doing something about it is the first step.

Let me know if I can help, feel free to call or PM me.

    You need HV/GP... :kisses3:

You can still laugh while depressed and it isn't always enough.

I am exactly like that and always have been (and still am). I have always seen asking for help as a sign of weakness so I've (in any situation) kept things to myself and tried to work it out, particularly at work.

Eventually though, it gets to the point when you just have to let go :(

    Thanks everyone xxx

Right - change the subject and get chatty quick so Hubbles doesn't see this. It would break his heart to know I felt like this and although I know I'll need to tell him eventually I am not up to that conversation right now...:(
