No I didn't have the manners to ask if I could use the loo, I'm not talking a city centre where there's a multitude of toilets to pick from, it was a rural pub and the only thing for miles and I'm sorry but I personally wouldn't risk them saying no. Aint no way I'm peeing in bushes in daylight at the side of the road.
We were going to have a very quick drink, but saw the machine and decided that would be an alternative, I don't know whether pubs get the revenue from the machines, but at the time we guessed they did.
And what would I have done if we won? Looked into the sky to see some flying pigs. I think that's the only time we've ever played on one of those machines, and I know there's a "system" on how you win it, or at least a lot of practice would help. It was merely to be a couple of minutes relief from driving before we travelled off again.
Let me reiterate, as much as I would hate to pee in the woods, I would equally be shamefaced to walk into a pub and run out again without buying anything - we decided against sitting down and having a few sips on a drink because we saw the machine as an alternative, I wouldn't give them a "pound for the inconvienence" of using the loo.
Cripes, we were intending to have a drink, I saw the machine and said "lets do this instead" as I honestly thought it would be an equivelant and I was no more expecting to win than to pick up a £50 outside on the road.
And if we had, miraculously won? (Aside from the question of how) I'm pretty sure we would have left money to buy the people in there a drink, and then !!!!!!ed off.
I really didn't think we'd be accused of stealing, I just thought it would be a better alternative to a drink in our situation.... Has this made sense now?
I personally would never walk into a pub and use the loos without asking - ESPECIALLY in a rural pub where something like that is more likely to be noticed.
As you youself admit, you "would equally be shamefaced to walk into a pub and run out again without buying anything". No wonder you ran away as quick as you could.
Haven't you contradicted yourself?
You say above that you intended to have a quick drink but in your original post you said youdidn't have the time to stop and have a coffee0 -
The disabled toilets pn the ground are locked yeah, but idve just gone to the upstairs ones that arent.0

I have no problem with BK only allowing customers to use the toilets and it seems the mother of the child didn't either. I'm sure I'd have allowed you to pass on the receipt had I been working there though (company policy or not), especially as it was a child needing the loo.
I have to say I think it is very rude to walk into a small pub and use the toilet without asking or buying. I think I'd have bought a bag of crisps had I been in that situation.0 -
The lack of well signposed public loos is a very real problem. The first thing I do when I go anywhere new is to find out where I can go if taken short. The burger king policy isn`t good and it shows that they aren`t people-friendly
I do tend to buy something if the loo is in a pub or cafe. Pity help foreigners who can`t work out where to go and I went into an estate agents once in France, when I got desperate and they very kindly let me use their loo. I can`t be the only one who doesn`t drink enough if going out for the day, just in case. Us older ones are as problematic as children in that department0 -
A real bugbear of mine is that our local council have decided that it is cost effective to close down almost all the public toilets, and that the retail sector should be taking advantage of this. None of them have, and most of the toilets that have closed down were in the middle of public parks, where the only retail unit around is an ice cream van.
Doesn't surprise me one bit that BK are penny pinching on this one. The quality of their food (speaking as a vegetarian) has gone down in quality over the last 18 months by a massive amount, and with it a price rise. I feel like they robbed me every time i go in there!0
