Personally I think the doorman did exactly the right thing - sorry.
What surprises me is that the police did not confiscate it - they should have as it had been altered, I can only assume they were somewhat busy and felt that they had issues that were of a higher priority to address at the time. As to if the doorman legally had any right to confiscate it - I'll ask my neighbour next time I see him as he's a copper...
Hopefully they will only issue him a substancial fine and not anything harsher - although I guess it would certainly teach him not to do anything in the forging line again...

yeah it will teach him but im the same ive been there used someone elses id or changed the date on a document think its something all youngsters go though but ill still be giving him a slap im going to call the club when it opens and ask if they have posted it i want proof that they have posted it.

As have spoken to a doorman and he said the only way they could keep it, if it was locked in a safe as data protection and the chances of someone cloaning the id means that if they take away anything it has to go in the safe, and they have to prove they posted it.

Im not bothered about the doorman taking it or if he wad allowed etc he did it to teach my little bro a lesson im sure although the police would have taken action even done to writing in thier book the details (which they didnt they radioed it though got his real date or birth and told them good try move along)

from the sounds of it he wont even get a fine but think it woke him up to not doing that again

I would have thought that to be able to issue him with a fine ,the accused would have to be found guilty of a criminal offence by a court of law !!!! Lets face it , at worst he's probably only guilty of "defacing an official document"He's hardly selling counterfeit driving licences on the black market is he ?

Goodness sake, he has done the equivalent of defacing a banknote, hardly a hanging offence. If it had been done in relation to a driving offence that would be completely different. Chill out people.

Actually I think the doorman has a right to confiscate it. The lad tampered with a legal doc and the doorman is returning to the 'owner' the DVLA.

If was against the law for the Doorman to take the licence why didnt the police give it back to him at the time of the age check!!!

I know many doorman who confiscate fake ID and documents and then hand it all into the police. What they choose to do with it is up to them. If the choose to pursue it or not. Licneces are usually returned to the DVLA.

I think the doorman was totally in the right. I hope your brother learns from his mistakes. Hes still young and Im glad he has a good big sister watching over him!

Ill ring the club tonight when they open and see if they still have it or if they will return it to the dvla - honestly it doesnt really matter if the doorman was allowed or not allowed to take it - he taught my little bro a lesson which i understand ill be giving him a slap for good measure (hey what are big sisters who you call at 12am becuase of problems for?? lol) so i wont be making a big thing out of if they arent allowed to take it.

Just him not getting into trouble is enough he had me up worrying all night about what we could do and how much trouble he will be in but i have taken your advice  and listening to everyone (thank you again for all your advice) he shouldnt get into trouble.

Ill let you know how i get on with the club lol
