Hi,
I know you may judge but please help me as my little brother who is 17 in his wisdom decided to doctor his provisional driving liscense to change his age to 18 (i know i also did this so i cant judge) the thing is the club doorman took this off him and dispite the police being there and checking his name and age on the system the police just told them to move on..
But the doorman has taken his driving licsense and has said they will send it off to the dvla in the morning - i have called and asked for proof of the posting which i can pick up tommorow but my question is how much trouble will he actually be in?

Hi i have no constructive advice but i wondered how did he do it? As in, did he just change it with a pen or use a computer/laser or make a whole new fake licence?0
-
it was a case of sticking a zero on the end on the date of birth a bit of green paper i believe so from a distance looked real but up close deffo looked fake but not done on computer or anything0
-
This is a difficult one - using a fake driving licence is taken very seriously, but what he has actually done is tampered with an official document, which I don't think would be treated so seriously. I'll see what I can find out for you.Gone ... or have I?0

I dont really think the doorman has any right to confiscate the licence - he is legally allowed to drive (just not old enough to get in a club!) so he has not really broken any laws that I can see as the bit of green paper can be removed.... having said that...I know someone who doctored a tax disc and was taken to court for fraud! I dont think this is in the same league and I would be surprised if they have posted it to DVLA tbhI have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0

Thats all I can find I'm afraid, looks like hopefully just a fine but possibly worse, or best case the DVLA being a bit useless just loose it and he can apply for a new one!

thank you both soo much he is really worried althou that will teach him - yeah he can drive and is legally able to do so it was just bit of paper but thank you dmg24 for helping me and sarah for your advice0
-
thank you desalhead the thing is he hasnt actually driven with it apart from one lesson and that was before the fool decided to stick the bit of paper over it to try and get in a club (that will teach him) also the police saw his license when they checke dhis dob and age etc but they didnt take any notice and just told them "nice try move on" dont know why they gave the lisence back to the doorman tho.
But just thinking if it was a massive thing surely the police would have taken action then?0 -
also what are the chances of the dvla losing it :-) and how long should i give them to lose it?0
-
I would ring DVLA and say the licence was lost can he pay for a replacement0
-
as the person who illegally altered his licence was 22 it is unlikely to have been to do with age - I think that the DVLA will see it for what it was...just someone trying to make themself look older! Tell him to take someone elses next time !!! He will get a small fine at the most - prob not even worth taking it to court.I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0
