Spoken to letting agents this morning, and they say the references have not come back yet. They said that i need to give my notice in tomorrow and that they are sure that if the references don't come back ok then they are nearly sure that i will be able to stay in the property that i am renting now. I that if it doesn't go ahead then i had said a couple of weeks ago my fiance is wanting to move in to the property that i am renting and what do we do about that.

They said take it one step at a time and hand my notice in tomorrow and they will put on the system that the notice if only if the references come back ok and if they don't i want to stay in this property i am in now. If the references don't come back ok then they will deal with my partner moving in to the property i am renting now through them.

I am worried as i don't want to end up homeless and my partner has now given his keys back to his lender and will be moving in to my house on tuesday. Don't know what to do.

I still think it might be for the best for you both just to live at your house, no matter how cramped it is for a bit. Clear the debts, work the credit rating back up and then think about moving. I wouldn't give notice until you had references back, you don't want to end up with nowhere to live.
Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.

do not trust them. they have been incompetent so far. Never trust anything not in writing. Stay out. They are worried landlord will be pee'd off as they have arsed it up, they only have their own interests at heart.
    Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.

The LA acts in the interests of their own pockets and the LLs on whose behalf they let the properties. Unless they have specific agreement from your current LL, they cannot "hold your notice on the system" - your current LL is entitled to the full notice period from you unless the LA can come up with a replacement T.

Their next step will probably be to tell you that you will have to pay an overlap rent of 3+ weeks if you want/qualify for this other property.

If you don't get this one, your best bet is for both you and your bf to get your own credit reports from experian, callcredit and equifax before shelling out more fees to be told that you cannot rent a specific property.

You could ask whether your bf can sublet from you at the current property, which means that you remain wholly responsible for paying the rent etc, but he would not have the same security of tenure that you as T enjoy.

It is looking like my fiance is going to have to go br, as he owes too much and is stuggling to pay it back. Thankyou for your help.

Thankyou for your help, i think im going to ring them again or go in today. We have both had our reports form experian and my has the br on and my fiances is not good. We can't afford to be paying another three weeks rent on top.

I will speak to them about the sublet.

I would not give your notice - letting agents are muppets and in my experience will say whatever suits them at the time to get you to do what they want you to!!!

Surely the landlord can just wait another month for you to move to the new house? Esp. as the whole situation is down to the incompetence of his letting agent.
