Would you believe myself and the OH were only just writing a shopping list for our "big shop" and talking about what else we would need to spend throughout the rest of the month. I am not sure what you think would be acceptable, there are 2 adults here and 2 children aged 10 & 4 (who have packed lunches for school)
I am not going to start until Monday as we are away for the weekend for my older sons birthday (and our last weekend of freedom before the moneysaving REALLY starts)
I will be doing my SOA on Monday too so really starting with a vengeance. ANy help would be greatly appreciated.
Btw, we had a lovely chicken dinner tonight, the chicken was reduced, all veg was frozen from packet, mash, roasts, parsnips etc and it all cost next to nothing as I searched Somerfield today for the reduced stock!!
Sad as it sounds I am looking forward to Monday now!!!!!!0 -

I shouldn't need any dishwasher tabs, loo roll, washing liquid, crisps, toothpaste, teabags, chocci biscuits for packed lunch, diet coke, blackcurrant squash, pizza, garlic bread or chickens until the autumn :rotfl:
One tip...I treat the supermarket run as a mini-shop, small trolley, quick dash so we can get to the market/butchers earlier in town and turn it into an adventure. Take old bread for the ducks at the river and maybe pop into the free art gallery/museum.Back on the DFW Wagon:

I normally spend £100 a week on food [I'm ashamed to say] . I'll be joining you trying to cut back. I've got a tough week ahead and we will probably be living on scraps.0

i'm ashamed to say that i spend about £100 a week aswell, we dont eat many takeaways because we live too far away from them, i have started shopping in costco, save a small fortune by buying large bags of dogfood there instead of supermarket, then we spoil it by coming out and going to frankie and benny's for lunch. i am going to try and cut weekly bill down to £50 wish me luck"Don't go where the path may lead,go where there is no path and leave a trail"Anthony Robbins0

Have just been paid so my month goes from the 23rd and have spent £30 on shopping so far. Shouldn't need a big shop as did that last month.
Would like to join the challenge what number would I be and I will put that on my signature.
Just me to shop for so £100 sounds like more than enough a month do you think?Light bulb moment Dec 2005

If you number yourselves and stick your Shopping target in your signature... then we can all see how well we are all doing ( or not in my case!!) Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

I've often thought about joining the grocery challenge but am a bit scared to leave dfw
 :rotfl: so this is just what I need!! Its a bit hard to set myself a target, especially now as I am going home for easter holidays on 7th April and parents buy the food there
.
I don't work month to month as I don't have a salary so I just work on a week by week basis. This is difficult with food though cos I tend to shop once every two weeks. So I budget double my weekly amount but then there are always more things to get in the second week! Need to be a bit stricter!
Anyway, I've budgeted £30 for a big shop tomorrow which will hopefully last until the 7th with only minimal top ups (£5?) next week. Its just me to cater for, by the way. I will report back on how I do with this budget over the next two weeks. Ideally I'd like to aim for £15 a week but I find this hard, I'm not particularly good at bulk cooking etc. I have limited space in the shared freezer etc but mainly I just don't get round to it!
Also I'm trying to eat more healthily so sometimes I'm in asda and I decide that I will get yummy things like nectarines even though they're expensive cos I really like them and it will stop me eating chocolate. For me the healthy food is a priority over cutting costs right back, although I know the two aren't mutually exclusive!
So anyway, do I need a number for this too? If so will someone give me my number!Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs. Will do! If someone wants to give me a number I'll happily have one, don't want to pick one that anyone's got already!!Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs.
