Hi all
Ive been thinking I need a bit of inspiration and help with meeting my grocery challenge ( see sig) and thought we could have a little group going here to share ideas and tips and help each other along.
Old Style board is definatly the place for those recipes, but here is the place to get the motivation going. Besides, when I venture out of DFW i get a bit lost with all the millions of threads on this site!
Come on then, someone join me...!! Weve got plenty of people among us from Earwigs thread yesterday, us supermarket addicts, so this is the place to get support, motivation and new ideas for what youve got in and what you can make out of it.

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

 Hi Lynz count me in I'll dash off and change my sig to DFW grocery challenge
I just scraped over my target last month but have done well this month with my 'big shop'..see total so far as I overestimated everything last month..
My main problem with food shopping is I have always kept a 'food store' for emergencies e.g redundancy, late wages, unexpected bills and the like and have to have my comfort zone of at least a years supply of everything in not to panic :rotfl: I have still managed to keep my supplies up even though I have cut my bills by half!!
Meant to say there are 2 adults and 15,11 and 7 year old0 -
count me in hopeing to spend just 40.00 a week (but not including milk or nappies)DFW nerd club number 039

Right then, for all of us plus any newcomers, let me start by saying what we are having for dining this evening.
Fishes with lemon & pepper crumb ( frozen) were bogof, but never came off at the till so they were free on R&R at tescos) Oven chips ( morrisons own 75p the bag) , frozen peas ( handful no more than 10ps worth). With ownmake angel delight (23p+ milk) for pud. I reckon that meal, for the both of us will cost 85p, all in. Ok ive cheated with my free fish, but you get the idea!
Whats on your table later and what do you reckon it cost? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Well if DD works shifts Harrie, can you not leave her some leftovers to heat up, or some tupperwares in the freezer she can choose from when she gets in?
8 boxes cereal  I used to do that, then realised it was all stale! We have 2 ( own brand bran flakes/ own make weetabix) and if we dont want them we have toast! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Cupboards & freezer are very bare at the mo but do have a big Asda delivery coming Weds
It's just me & DD who's nearly 7
How much do you reckon-£100 for the month or a little more ?(not counting the Asda delivery)
I'm on a limited budget so don't spend much but never keep track of exact amountsOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 440 -
hi guys....i would love to rise to the challenge....i spend £40 perweek, thats for me and my four children, thats for everything, nappies, wipes and cleaning products too.
tonights dinner was pork loin chops, with chips, ribbon carrots and gravy and pud was homemade flapjack!! (yum).
tomorrow will be different because it is only the two little ones to have dinner as it is DS1 10th birthday so i will be taking him, a friend and DS2 out for a meal at frankie and bennys a real treat!!! but money for meal is budgeted and has been saved up for so doesnt come out of grocery money.
thanks lynzpower for a great thread!!!November NSD's - 70
