WindowsXP disc? Can anyone lend me a Windows XP disc for a night? I need to re-install Windows on my laptop and my disc has gone missing. I have my own ID code but I need the software on the disc. I'll guard the disc with my life and make a £10 donation to any charity of your choice (even if it is you) via Paypal. If you can help please PM me. I've been quoted £72 for anew disc and just can't afford that.

Which version of XP home?
There's OEM or Retail, it will say on the license sticker.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

OEM. Although I don't think it will matter which version. If you can help it will be greatly appreciated.0

What laptop, If it is a new fangled one with a SATA HDD controller a normal XP disc may not see the HDD. Most laptops from the last couple of years will need an XP disc which either has SP3 or is geared to your particular hardware.
Don't know why this is such a problem on laptops, doesn't seem to happen on desktops of a similar vintage? Maybe due to BIOS. Would be interested if anyone knows?"Hey, if love is blind, how come lingerie is so popular?" Cochrane. P673 TNG.0 -
Retail / OEM keys are not interchangeable

But your in luck I do have OEM, I just need to find out where I put the darn thing.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Sorry Strider been given duff info from work mate! My laptop is about 4 years old. As long as it is Windows XP home I belive my code will be valid. I can get all the updates online.
If you can help I'll obvioulsy send the Paypal payment before you send disc (and cover postage) and in that payment include my address. I now you are trusting me but you'll know my name, home address, email so hopefully that is enough!0 -
It would be illegal I think to accept any form of payment, please check you private messages, thanks.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

There's no need to borrow an original disc - you can use a copy. I've got an updated image sitting on my HDD at this very moment!

But to create a copy of the Windows CD or Image and to then pass that copy to someone else..... Copyright infringement and not something you'd want to advertise in an open forum :P“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I have two originals, but they're both pre-SP2. I don't install from them directly any more; they're too old.0

I'd be happy to take one of those old versions from you.0
