Has anyone heard of Infinity Compensation? We've just had a call from them, suggesting that they can use various loopholes to write off our credit card debt with Halifax. Apparently, so they say, Halifax have been fined £4m for breaches of terms & conditions.....
They suggested that since 2007 when new regulations were introduced (funny, I've not seen that on here) we should have been sent new credit agreements every time they change the interest rate, plus when our limit has been increased.
They claim that they are working on behalf of the Government legal department (I tried to get him to elaborate on that but didn't get very far) and that the government are forcing banks to comply.....
He went on to say that it is the underwriters that will end up paying the debt & that Halifax will get thier money & that we would have our debt written off.
I'm one for believing that if something seems too good to be true, then it generally is. This claim seems to be too good to be true... They did push for personal information, date of birth, credit card number etc (as if!!).
He suggested to look into their website (infinity compensation (one word)) and also the ministry of Justice site. I checked & they are Authorised to carry out claims management services.
I've asked for a copy of EVERYTHING in writing, that way I can take it apart & report them if what they're claiming is untrue.
Just wondered if anyone else has heard of this company & method of approach?
I've read the debt write-off posts, but to be honest, they baffle me. Please feel free to give me a plain English version of what's allowed & what's not, as I'm not too good at getting around all the legalese....0 -
I did the same thing last night and I haven't slept a wink!! They say if it sounds too good to be true then it usually is. My husband went mad. They've charged 2 of my cards as I didn't have enough credit on the one I want rid of. Anyway, I phoned the CC companies and reported my cards as lost so they're blocked now although 1 of them mentioned the payment so I said I'd never heard of them so they're investigating. I've also emailed CR to tell them I've changed my mind and would like my payment refunded. They did say they have a 14 day cooling off period so they should honour that. no doubt I'll be getting phone calls from them today.
I didn't like the urgency they had for you to part with the fee. So why did I do it??? I dunno, just felt incredibly pressurised.
Quick update - refund cheque for the full amount received this morning!! Sigh of relief0 -

Why would you want to do this? Have they promised to cut the debts in half or some such nonsense?
